Good afternoon, folks. A few showers blew into town a few hours early, but this isn’t the main action we are tracking tonight into the next few days. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms kick in for parts of the state and may even be on the strong side. As the week wears on, the pattern stays very active across the country with winter and the tropics both cranking.

The initial band of showers continues across parts of central and eastern Kentucky this afternoon and that’s keeping temps chilly. We will be watching the southwest for more showers and a few storms developing later today…

As I mentioned, the main action looks to develop overnight and into Monday, but it’s not going to impact the entire state. The farther southeast one goes, the less of a chance for rain. Farther north and west should be pretty active…

Rainfall totals may top a few inches within that corridor, but there’s another sharp rain cutoff likely to show up. Keep in mind, that’s through TUESDAY.

Some of the storms may be on the strong side and the Storm Prediction Center continues to indicate a low-end risk for severe storms in the west…

The setup after this will be a battle between the tropics and full blown winter showing up across the country. Early season snows have been common already for a large chunk of real estate and I expect that to grow through the end of October. Can that include our region? Yes. Will it? That remains to be seen.

This makings of a very potent setup are coming together from late this week into the following week…

Again, as soon as whatever happens in the tropics can get out of the way, we see that deep trough come right back in here.

Enjoy the rest of the day and take care.
