Good Tuesday evening everyone. Your friendly weatherdude is stopping by to give you a model update on the possibility of an extreme event this weekend and early next week. A major trough will dig in across the eastern half of the country and will do everything it can to grab Tropical Storm/Hurricane Sandy and pull it onshore in the mid atlantic or northeast.
Let’s run ’em down…
European Mode Tuesday Morning:
NOGAPS:
Neither of those models have wavered with a once in a lifetime scenario along the east coast. The GFS Ensembles Mean has joined the party:
We’re still several days away from determining how this whole thing plays out and what it means for our weather. Needless to say, an extreme event is very much on the table.
See you guys late tonight. Take care.
yea it would be a AMAZING STORM for the NE part of country, but I still think SANDY will be to fur east to have the PERFECT STORM.
Bring on the once in a lifetime event. That is as long as no one gets hurt from a wild weather event.
It’s been extreme weather all year, maybe we will get it!
Epic amounts of snow fall showing up on some of the models…West Virginia,..Pa..Maryland…I wonder if the trough speeds up would this pull sandy into the center of the mid-atlantic and cause havoc for parts of ky????..
Hmmm…wouldn’t this storm need to move much further west to impact KY? Looks like cold and no snow for us.
I’m still skeptical. Let’s face it, Euro model has been awful all year even in the eyes of people who usually claim it’s the best model out there. The odds of a tropical system making a left turn with a sweeping through trying to push it out to sea are skim. If it happened, it would be big trouble for NYC. BIG trouble. So it bears watching. But I’m still very skeptical. I prefer the operational GFS solution with Sandy going out to sea.
Oh, yuck!! Not only will my school kiddos be excited about Halloween & sugar-buzzed on candy but they’ll also be feeling the effects of barometric pressure changes – might as well have a couple of “snow days” 😉
Really enjoy your blog! I check it first thing every morning and usually again before the end of the day. Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed! Keep up the good work Chris.
Not a believer this earlier. Maybe a few flurries if we squint our eyes and then I won’t believe it until I taste the first flake on my tongue! I sure would love if it did though!
Looks like the Gfs is taking baby steps in the right direction for a phase..So close but not there yet..See what tomorrow brings..
