10pm Update
Good evening everyone. Well… it was a wild snow day for parts of the state. It is obvious the snow Gods are in love with western Kentucky right now as they were the big winners out of all this. A widespread 3″-6″ snow fell in many of that region with local amounts up to 10″. Farther east… the snow was a bit more streaky with totals of 1″-3″. Across eastern and southeastern Kentucky… the warm ground temps from that 50 degree air today is killing the falling snow.
A slushy accumulation will still be possible… especially on elevated surfaces.
Looking ahead… the NAM is cranking out snow for most of the state Wednesday and Wednesday night with the highest totals across the south. Let’s watch the northward trend! ![]()
Full update later tonight… take care.
5pm Update
Wow… what a snowfall across the western part of the state. There was a report out of Marshall county of 10″ of snow. Check out this pic from out west…
Snow will continue to push eastward this evening with a general 1″-3″ for almost the entire rest of the state. There should be some local 3″-6″ totals across parts of central Kentucky before all is said and done.
Keep posting the weather from where you live and take care.
Previous Update
Good afternoon everyone. Snow has really been coming down across much of central and western Kentucky today and will continue to spread eastward. As of noon… some areas in the west have picked up more than 5″ of wet snow. Given the radar trends… will someone hit 8″ out of this? Wow. That is certainly possible.
How much snow falls farther eastward? The switch to snow is now working east of Interstate 75 and that change will reach far eastern Kentucky by late afternoon. A widespread swath of 1″-3″ of slushy snow will be likely. That said… a band of 3″-6″ may continue to show up.

It’s snowing like crazy in Frankfort! I have never seen flakes this big!
HUGE flakes in Georgetown. Beautiful snow!! Covered yard already.
Really amazing how fast this switched from all rain to all snow. Those cams out of Paducah are unbelievable to see. Snowing here in CKY very hard right now, sticking to the grass but not the pavement yet. Expect some early dismissals at your local school districts before this starts to stick to the roads. *As seen in the Paducah webcam!
:))))))))
Really quite amazing how fast this transition went from all rain to all snow. These are the biggest snow flakes I’ve seen in many years here in CKY. Not sticking to pavement or roads yet, but the grass is getting a nice coating. I’d expect some early dismissals from school before it gets much worse (like Paducah!)
Mother nature giving us a make up call for the mid week storm? Wait to see what my area gets before thanking her.
Jackson NWS updated their discussion at 12:04 and still say temps support all rain even in the north. Little or no accumulation before sunset.
I really hope that they are wrong and the radar would seem to support the idea that they may be.
Mix in Flemingsburg. The flakes that are falling a huge though.
Here is a cool radar with little web cams and shows where the storm is heading temps

Still snowing on 127 on the Anderson/Mercer county line. Slushy 1 inch accumulation on the grass. Roads are wet. Temp is holding steady now at 32.5 degrees.
They’ve lost their minds. There is extremely low visibility here in CKY and it is already sticking to everything but the roads.
I hope this works

WHY have all my post disappeared?
The 11:54 update at Bluegrass APT says it’s 32 in Lex. It is snowing at a good clip but there is NO wind whatsoever…..While certainly not a blizzard, it’s getting white outside.
http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?brand=wxmap&query=paducah+ky
Really? Every station on the Kentucky mesonet in Jackson’s CWA is still reporting a temperature of 40 or higher.

he is only human just as you. so if this is all you are going to do is get on here and put someone as respectful as chris down, then you can take your garbage else where. thank you for your time and god bless.
my apologies to the person from etown in ky from yesterdays post about trying to warn me of you and i would not listen due to the fact that i thought every one has an opinion and thet should get to express it but in this case you should keep yours to your self.
people like you deserve no respect.
oh by the way it is 45 degrees and cloudy in wayne, wva with rain very close by at 12:15pm.
still holding in upper 40’s in London, but starting to cloud up, something is definitely getting ready to come down, either rain or snow.
gosh who are you blasting?? it must be on the past comments!!!
Mostly sunny, 46 in Somerset.
Im just wondering what it means when someone post “first” on here is it something weather related that i just dont understand. Please tell me it just does not mean I was first like some 7 year old kid ha ha im first I mean that would be so inmature that i just dont think there is anyone out there that would really right that. Someone please tell me what it means
its for that ‘Jank’ troll that has been blasting Chris lately. If you google his name, his comments all over the web are nothing short of SICK.
Toney– no worries. But lets not feed the trolls anymore, k? 😉
It is snowing huge flakes here in Versailles. Starting to cover the ground nicely! 🙂
12:45pm thus far only rain in eastern Boyle 38*…..Reports of heavy snow around Harrodsburg one hour ago.
Within the last 20 minutes..its gone to more snow than anything here in Flemingsburg. Flakes are huge, but not sticking as of yet.
Still snowing like CRAZY here in Etown 😀
If the temp would just drop another couple of degrees in Lex…..The radar really looks good. The way this storm has started reminds me of how to big snows would start in western NC….Big flakes coming straight down and a mid 30s temp that eventually would go to the upper 20s and down from there.
Snowing like crazy here at New Circle and winchester Roads. Very little sticking to roadway or parking lot, grass has a slight coating.
Watching the radar, Central KY, Woodford County, could see a couple of hours of decent snow. I’ll cross my fingers. Decent snowfall now, maybe an inch or slightly more. It’s really fluffy.
That is exactly what it means, as when it comes to snow and sometimes severe wx, it brings the kid out in us all!
Come up 127 to North Mercer. Well over one inch of snow in Salvisa..starting to stick to pavement in places. Temp is 32.6
does it look like london-corbin area will get much snow
WOW…Lou Area looks is passed right over once again. Came down hard for about an hour and now nothing…Glad to see central ky getting nailed…3-6 before all moves out later. Between Lou and BG…OWENSBORO to LEX looks for a decent snow fall…I bet ETOWNKY is very happy…
Thats is the stupidest thing I have ever seen unless its a 7 year old kid I mean are you serious I love snow and it gets me excited but it doesnt make me want to act like an idiot i have been seeing that and thought no way that is just someone just wanting to call “fIRST” I thought it had something to do with the weather WOW !!
Yeah, his comments are turning up any and everywhere a pot can be stirred, it seems he’s one of those folks who get out of their mom’s basement very little. Will ignore from now on…
Here in southwest Jefferson county biggest flakes I have seen in 5 years and it stoped snowing and it all melted away in 15 mins.
lexington and central KY looks like 3-4″ before it all ends.. winter storm warning looks like it should be issued.. 4 incehes in less than 12 hours.. just my take on it…
hi laura, i am in london, i think we will just get rain if anything … the sun keeps trying to pop out right now and the temp is actually going up.
BOY SOMEONE CRAPPED IN YOUR CHEERIOS TODAY DIDN’T THEY!
Snowing huge flakes in Frankfort that are sticking to everything! It looks beautiful.
We are in the heavy band and snow is piling. We have just under 2 inches, the roads have become slushy. The flakes are huge, one of the heavier snows I have seen in years. Since it turned over around 11, the rate is about an inch an hour here.
The snowdome is firmly in place over Taylor County, KY. Rain and 36 degrees is we are getting. Enjoy the snow if you are receiving.
YOU BETCHA! 😉
Sorry you were 15th, but you don’t have to take it out on everybody else.
mod snow with 1.5 mi vis in etown….2.5″ in etown, i expect 4 to 5 by tonite
50.0 degrees on the dot here in Corbin. Abundant sunshine and hardly a cloud in the sky! Hard to believe it’s 32 and snowing just 80 miles north.
Seriously, dude, if this is the stupidest thing you’ve ever encountered, you really need to get out more! What is life if you can’t have a little good-natured competition and fun?
Is it snowing in Madison County?
FYI
LIGHT SNOW IS ANYTHING OVER 3/4 VISIBILITY
MODERATE SNOW IS CONSIDERED 1/2 MILE VISIBILITY.
HEAVY SNOW = 1/4 MILE VISIBILITY OR LESS
Just saying . . . .
Dusting to an 1/2 inch of snow on the ground only in eastern marion county. Roads are wet, not slick at this time.
Huge flakes in Cynthiana and the temp is 33. Some of the heaviest snow I have seen in awhile.
i know, i live close to holly bay and it is 49 deg here, really weird … looks like it is clearing up and moving away from here, i hope so – can’t wait to get my boat out and fish!!
No more stupid than making up a word like stupidest. It’s one thing to knock someone but for god sakes man (kid) use proper english when doing it.
wow…paducah keeps uping their totals…now heavy snow warning for 5-10″…!!!!!!!
Looks like the NAM and some other models catching back on to more white stuff Weds.-Thursday !!
Surprised how much has fallen here just West of Lexington in the 127 corridor. Easily 1-2 inches in the grass, still snowing with big flakes. Every time I think this is going to let up, it gets heavier again.
Meanwhile 20 miles to my south the temp is in the 40s. Is the temp gradient producing the heavy snow?
Not yet.
Tim; can you source this info? I can’t find anything. Thanks.
Heavy band coming up from Nashville, lookin like straight for….
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! 😉
Woohoo! LOL
That is prerry cool, what was the forecast 1-3? Of course here in Richmond–2:00pm,,nothing but rain, radar show snow,,but no
only thing changw with this syastem is METS BLEW IT IN WESTERN KY.
that said SE E aint going get nothing to warm today and what snow falls will not lay much, might get a inch in hihger elvations as it moves out. that black mountain.
Looks like it is trending more North now than before and may leave the bluegrass region? Anybody else see that?
You must have no idea how this board works….we love snow and all things snow related at this time of year and if you want to put a damper on the spirit of the board move along. I am so proud that the people on this board aren’t like you!
If the devil danced in Snowless pockets he would have a ball in SE KY.
Rain changing over to very heavy large flakes in Morehead/Rowan County…of course right now it’s all melting as it hits the ground..but as hard as it ha started falling may not take too long to get some slushy build up..:)
I mean..It is absolutely POURING snow in northwest Lex. HUGE fat flakes
Ye ole dry slot has set up over Campbellsville. It’s not even raining now.
50 degrees and sunny here in Keavy. Little clouds and it feels GREAT!!!!!! Now if mother nature would just sneak up over here and bury us in a foot or more of snow before the flowers start coming up.
nam and euro further north for wed-thurs storm…this will be the first of the trend, mark my words
temp 36 in Lou. Unfortunately, the majority of the snow falling is going to waste. Sums up the year here. Another day of ifs
HA! We have sunshine to pc skies here in Somerset, and temp is at 49 degrees. Gets cloudy but then the sun wins out again. I think all we will see even tonight here is likely a cold rain.
Hope for something better midweek, but we shall see….
Snowflakes the size of silver dollars pouring down in downtown lex
Morehead here)Have to agree with some other posts, largest snowflakes I’ve seen in years…half dollar size..shame it’s all melting right as soon as it hits the ground…beautiful seeing it fall though..
All it’s doing here in (Martin County) is raining… I feel sorry for everybody eles that is in this winter mess…
Well at least im not sitting around waiting to type “first” on a weather blog comments section. You must be one of the people who were disappointed cause they didn’t get to type first before the other
There is no Heavy Snow Warning in effect over there….just a Winter Storm Warning.
NWS Paducah, KY
This Afternoon: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 31. North northwest wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.
NO HEAVY SNOW WARNING… Keep it real people….! please…
NW Lex:
Moderate snow, roads are fine, sidewalks nothing, too warm…
Approaching 2″ on my patio…
Actually, I don’t think anyone here does that, but even if they do, they should be able to do it without being berated by the likes of you…
stu·pid (stpd, sty-)
adj. stu·pid·er, stu·pid·est
1. Slow to learn or understand; obtuse.
2. Tending to make poor decisions or careless mistakes.
3. Marked by a lack of intelligence or care; foolish or careless: a stupid mistake.
4. Dazed, stunned, or stupefied.
5. Pointless; worthless: a stupid job.
Which one are you Im thinking 3 but thats just me being nice. Before you go correcting someone you might want to pick up a dictionary (KID).
Would not surprise me, since part of the fence IS Richmond. Been snowing moderate to heavy in south Lexington since 10:30am. Just now starting to accumulate well. That is just 13 miles of actual “crow flies” distance to Richmond. Classic but true for snow for MANY years.
where you at in campbellsville, i am here too, just waiting to see if temps are goin to drop when this slug of precip moves in, in a few….i am in town just off broadway
Im sorry, I didnt mean to hurt your feelings
FIRST
When you least expect it … that is when you will get it !!!!
it snows all day in paducah and they get 5-9 inches. at the same tie its been “snowing” all day here in louisville, but its just a few degrees too warm for it to do any good. no accumulation to speak of. now the radar is showing one patch of green in all that blue sitting right on top of, you guessed it, louisville. this has been the winter that almost was. optimism is running low for any decent snow before this winter comes to a close.
You didn’t, its just that people like this weather community because it is a place to exchange information, learn new things, and yes, have a little fun, and they should be able to do it without being subjected to name calling over something as innocuous as calling “first”…
mod snow still in etown…3 inches now…check out the home page on weather.com…it has the low tracking from tx tthru east tennessee…it appears the low will track north for wed-thurs storm!
18Z NAM is running.
No complaints here on the Mercer/Anderson line. Light to moderate snow since 1030 A.M. Every time a dry slot comes towards me on the radar, it fills in. 2 inches on the grass–nothing on the pavement.
You know your right I don’t know how it works I just didn’t think that typing first just to say I was first had anything to do with snow or anything related to snow. If you got something to say about the weather and you just want to type first before you comment I can understand but what about all the people who come here to read about what is going on with the weather don’t you think there might be maybe just a few people who have never read the comments before and have a hard time understanding what first means I really appreciate the people who have some meaningful information about the weather situation in the state
Hello Etown! I haven’t posted for a while. I live in the western part of Hart County but I work in Etown. I am home today and we have heavy snow right now but the other side of our county has NOTHING! It’s crazy! What is it like in Etown? I have to come back to work tomorrow so I’m just curious. It’s beautiful here. It slacked off for a bit but now it’s picked up again and snowing pretty hard! It may be a couple of hours before I get on here to check updates again but I’ll be back!
Largest flakes I’ve seen in a long time too. They almost weren’t flakes. More like big poofy balls of cotton.
It’s funny how western KY keeps getting nailed this year with no warning, and the rest of KY can’t buy a deep snow to save our souls.
One period in the whole passage and it’s not even at the end of the sentence.
Running? Whatcha mean?
Here in Mt. Sterling it has been snowing since about noon. The Weather Channel still says it is 38 deg. and rain shower. We live near the I64 exit so maybe other parts of the county are having different weather? We have close to an inch on the grassy areas.
FIRST!!!!! It is 51 here in Keavy and the clouds are starting to move in. Can it snow at 51? LOL OK have to do it again because I am a smarty pants. FIRTST!!!!!!!!
First? HAAAhhaaaaaaahaaa ha
I apologize to any and everyone I offended I understand the desire to have a little fun and did not mean to insinuate anyone was stupid or immature I just realized I was the stupid one for arguing over something as silly as this subject again I am sorry! Everyone is in titled to type whatever they want
LOVE THE DEFINITION POST. WHAT ABOUT USING THE WORD “RIGHT” FOR “WRITE”???? SERIOUSLY, WE CAN ALL THROW STONES, BUT MR. DUNN, DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO PUT OTHERS DOWN FOR MAKING A SIMPLE POST OF “FIRST” ON A WEATHERBLOG? IT SEEMS YOU SIR, ARE THE CHILDISH ONE!
I am at 51 my temp would have to drop 20 degrees to see snow,as I said no expectations no disappointments,my new Motto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Local met in the lex area said possible 4-8 inches in this area tonight………..is that really a possibility?
It’s been snowing heavily here in Bardstown (city) since around 11am. I only have about 1″ of slushy accum. on my back deck, most likely due to the temps being well above freezing when it began?! I was out & about when it began, and WOW! is all I can say about the size of the flakes! Half-dollar size and bigger is what we’ve been dealing with all afternoon. It’s 33° now, lighter snowfall, but radar returns look promising.
btw..my folks near Tulsa…14.5″ out of the Blizzard…4.5″ out of the Fri-Sat. burst, 4-10″ expected in the Winter Storm tom./Wed. My aunt keeps calling me with one question: “Got Snow??!” I guess I need to call her so she won’t think she’s hogging it all…(even tho she is…lol!)
I hate moderation! anyway local met in Lex, is calling for possible 4-8 inches for this area tonight…seriously?
NWS for Lex:
This Afternoon: Rain and snow. High near 37. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than 1 inch possible.
I have 2″ on my patio already…
radar returns suggest I will approach 3″ when all said and done…
It has been snowing moderate to heavy here in Shelbyville since 10 AM but we have had little accumulation. It’s so frustrating when it is 1 or 2 degrees to warm for it to stick.
No I should not have done that I am sorry and yes I was the childish one
Still no snow near Somerset
Where are you in Lex? I’m at work off Harrodsburg Road/New Circle and we’re lucky to have .5 inch. I’m hoping I remember corectly and you live in Masterson Station. Do I have 2 inches of snow awaiting me at home?!?!
NW Masterson Station
And it’s the perfect snow…! No road concerns, nothing on sidewalks to shovel… Just grass and it’s the perfect snow ball fight, sledding, snowman making snow..!!!
I smell ebay coming into sight for central KY!!! 😉
just starting to snow in campbellsville
Still nothing in Richmond.
Clouds have gotten very thick, and temp has dropped from 52 down to 45 in a matter of less than half an hour….hmmmm.
Last
due to the apology, we will overlook in titled!
The superlative form of stupid is most stupid, as in I made the most stupid mistake, not stupidest. Stupidest can be heard and seen everywhere, but it’s wrong. (Please don’t ask me to roll out my entire exposition on why finding a word in a modern dictionary doesn’t make it legitimate, standard English.
Where’s Bubba? We have all given up on late week, You can come of break! Just wondering if there is any snow on the dark side today.
I’m over here near you off corporate drive. You’re right, not much out there and it keeps melting, but it sure has been pretty to watch falling.
Can anyone tell me if it is snowing in Mt. Sterling?? Fixing to have to head that way and was wondering if there is anything over there yet.
10 inches in west ky, that is just not fair.!!!!!!
Well, the Dome is alive and very well in south Jessamine. There is absolutely no way we will reach even the low end of an advisory. Even though it snowed fairly heavily for several hours, it did not accumulate to anything, and now it has stopped altogether, and the minuscule dusting we had has now melted. WKY get 10″ and we get nothing…figures…
All is forgiven…
4-5 inches of wet, heavy snow in Hopkinsville at 4:00CT, and still coming down in big flakes.
Please dont cause I would hate for you to look more stupid than you already do. Sounds like you been rolling something!
No doubt, if you look at the radar Frankfort should be getting a good snow, i don’t get ti!
Well, I may have been in school during the biggest flake, but looking out the window all day was gorgeous here in Anderson county!!!!
I south Jessamine, I’m right there with you. There is pretty much nothing at my house in Wilmore, and the most I saw on my drive from downtown Lexington was at best around 1″. There is a bit on the ground 5 miles north, but pretty much nothing is what we got…
I am truly sorry I really didn’t mean to offend anyone.
If anyone is wondering, 1-64 in Shelby County has reopened.
Have a little update on my blog if anyone is interested.
No, I am sorry. I was just kidding you sound like you are a very knowledgeable person and I am not when it comes to spelling and grammar. I’m sure you are correct no hard feelings

Were havin a good ol’ time in the kentucky weather chat room!
Come join us:
http://ekywx.com/kychat.htm
Is 4-8 inches really possible overnight in Lexington? I’m on campus right now and it is absolutely coming down. I’ve honestly never seen it snow so hard in my life. Then again I am from South Carolina.
A very fine, continuous snow here in the southern part of the county (close to I-71). Very little accumulation on the grass and nothing on the roads.
My family in Tulsa and Bixby and I am sooo jealous of their snow. My sister was complaining on facebook and I had to remind here that us snow-starved people here in Kentucky would be happy to have it. Really though, it has been quite tough on everyone there with no let up until sometime next week. I hope your family is doing well and aren’t having any difficulties!
10.1 inches…somebody hit the jackpot down in Marshall County!
Rain now changing to a Snowy mix in Adair County.
The snow has picked up and has started to accumulate some on the grassy areas at my house in Shelbyville. The temperature is 32.9.
if this post twice sorry. it keeps saying i have entered the wron code. temp has started to drop some here near Flatwoods, ky. Temp was 41 deg at 3pm and is now at 38 deg at 4:40 has been a cold rain all day. does it look like we will get any snow here or just rain? ok now at 37 deg at 4:55.
Hiya!
I think al my prior posts either got moderated or it was my comp(since I’ve been on Cable, it’s sucked..lol!-I did better on Dial-Up!)
Been snowing heavily-half-dollar-size snowflakes in Bardstown since around 11am…temps were so-so @ onset, so we’ve not had a lot of accumulation…I have 1″ of slush on my back deck thus far!?:( Snow continues to come down, altho the flakes are nowhere as near as big…:( We could still see some good accum’s out of this. 🙂
For mid-week storm this would be nice
Eta 3 http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/SREF21PRSUS_15z/srefloop.html
Not sure maybe someone with experience can tell but that looks like a Apps runner to me.
Snowing in Richmond. Finally.
Starting to Snowing Pretty Hard here in Waco Ky (Madison County)
I hope we do seem some good accumulation out of this. If the temperature was about 2 degrees cooler we would have tons of snow.
I love the fact that we get too see it snow some like this during daylight hours.
ITS ALL GOOD. NO WORRIES
Can not make this stuff up. Exit 104 I 75 heavy snow falling and 2″ on the ground. Travel three miles down the road to around Clays Ferry and almost ZIP on the ground and light snow.
Folks, Darth Bubba has reawakened and no turning back. Sorry from the Dark Side.
Another pic, for your veiwing pleasure.
Look how big the storm looks when it hits texas/louisiana..Dont see how something that big can just lose strength moving east. But the models says it does.Guess we will have to wait an see.

ALL YOU SNOW GEESE IN EAST KY…THAT SEEM TO BE HAVING A HARD TIME GETTIN ANYTHING MUCH MORE THAN THE LEFTOVER SLUSH…LOL!!!!!
CHECK OUT THIS FORECAST FROM MEMPHIS TN…WHICH IS UNDER A WINTER STORM WATCH…
Wednesday: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 29. East northeast wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Wednesday Night: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 16. North northeast wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible
Hmmm… travel a little more south to exit 90 and cross over Red House Rd and we have snow falling with the ground covered. Grass still showing but it’s accumulating.
I’m convinced the river has a role in it. Kind of like the mountains make for an upslope, the Pallisades on the river create a downslope. Sounded good anyway.
Boyle County: 32*..Light at times moderate snow since about 4:30pm…maybe a quarter inch accum thus far on grass and elevated surfaces…I am sure other parts of the county have a little more.
Bubba, said it earlier on a thread. Mountains equal upslope. KY River Pallisades equal downslope. No snow.
I’m not knocking Chris or any other Mets around the area by any means, but why when we least expect it, it snows, HARD?
notice how system gains steam when it finally moves into central and eastet ky, might get 1 maybe 2 hours of snow in air, but a slusky coating doubtfulin SE and east still in upper 40s.
because God is good…. 😉
How does that affect us?
It is crazy how western Kentucky keeps winning big on these storms. They get huge accumulations that no models come close to showing. 6-10 inches is crazy when the most any models showed for them 24 hours out was 4 inches.
Snow is beginning to accumulate on pavement. Now have a light coating on my driveway in north Lexington.
Lovin’ this snow! I’m in West Lexington right now where I live, but I work off of Russell Cave. It has been pouring snow ALL DAY and has just been beautiful! We probably had nearly 3 inches by the time I left work on that side of two and around 2 here on this side of town. And it looks like there’s still a fair amount to come according to the radar.
I know it’s not the foot any of us were hoping for… but it’s been so pretty seeing those HUGE flakes all day and with the temps the way they’re gonna be the rest of the week, if we add another couple inches wednesday night… it will make for a good sledding/snowman building snow on the grassy areas – and hopefully a last snow day or two for the kids! :O)
Just rain down here on the border Chris! But the temps have dropped from 45* to 36* in the last couple of hours.
Snowing light in Frankfort, 1 in or so on the ground, sad when we should have about 4in plus! Not enough cold air to support much on the ground! Radar returns as usually happens are Getting weaker just as the cold air gets here!!!!
O.K…so does anyone know what the models are saying for Wednesday/Thursday? Anything moving north?
Sleet and snow starting to mix with rain in downtown Ashland.
I beeliv day cent. Ky gets 2-5 in.
HUH??
Okay- when is the artic air to arrive? I hate watching all this beautiful snow just melt away!
LOL Speaking of DARTH BUBBA. I SAW THE VW AD LAST NIGHT WITH THE LITTLE DARTH VADER….FIRST THING THAT CAME TO MY MIND….BUBBAG IN HIS EARLIER DAYS…. LMAO!!!!!
STILL NOTHING near Somerset…just rain. I am ticked that some people have 10 inches and we have rain. What a rip off.
one time i saw a tiger.
Not sure how NWS figures we get 2-4″ in Jessamine (at least the southwestern part). We will end up with 1″ or less unless the temperature drops fast (still above freezing at my house), and we get some freakish banding going…
He was posting it because this is a weather blog, geeze, talk about throwing the first stone
Temp just dropped to 30 in Frankfort and now covering secondary roads. Sidewalks are covered and it’s still coming down pretty heavy!
We’ve got about 2 inches of wet, wet snow on top of our bushes and grass here in West Lexington and it’s still coming down hard and sticking fast to the streets and sidewalks now with the temps below freezing. Slippery out there too!
I could easily see us getting another couple of inches if it keeps it up for another couple hours and from the looks of the radar, it will :O)
Have about a half inch or so in Northern Rowan Co…a friend of mine lives just a few miles towards the Southern side, and no snow at all….still snowing heavily right now..even though the radar is mostly green over us..it’s actually snow
So are the models so out of whack now that maybe, we have a shot in central ky wed, thur?
I was only asking a question, it was not
intended to be a smart alec response.
He was talking about Eastern Kentucky and
since TN is below us,
I assumed it meant something and
wanted to know what.
I in no way intended it to be offensive.
UGH! Moderation!
For the third or fourth time! lol.
We’ve got a couple of really wet inches of snow here in west lexington and it’s still coming down fast out there. Starting to stick to the roads and sidewalks now and getting slick with the temps below freezing. It’s been beautiful watching it with the kids at work today!
I love these overachievers… hopefully, from the looks of the radar, we’ll get in a couple more inches before all’s said and done and add a few to that Wednesday/Thursday (since it shouldn’t melt before then, and the kids can get a day or two off school as one last winter hoorah to go sledding.
Ummm…I think you are the one jumping the gun.
My question was simply an honest question, not intended to be a smart alec response.
It sounds to be like she was just asking a question not throwing a stone….
Once I saw 3 little javelinas in southern Arizona…
My son is driving to London from Bowling Green right now and the conditions are TERRIBLE!!! i was hoping he would run out of it before London but someone tell me-is this continuing all the way? What is the outlook for later tonite and tomorrow?
I once walked up on a WHOLE FAMILY of Javelinas in Prescott Arizona. I don’t know who was more scared, me or the Javelinas….LOL
Still rain here in Middlesboro, temps are starting to fall though. We’re down to 40.
Snow is starting to stick to the roads in Nicholasville 🙁
Kandy,
It’s raining in Barbourville (+- 15 miles from Corbin) and our temp is still around 40. I came from London about 2 hours ago – just rain there too. The temp there is usually fairly close to ours, so he should be ok.
Well, I re-read the post, and still sounds like a smart-ass post, try again ladies.
have the models changed in the favor of a good snow late week for ky????
Just measured 1″ on my back deck and it is still snowing.
It’s really coming down in London now!
Just got back from picking up my daughter from basketball practice. Boy is it slick in Lexington/Northern Jessamine! Lots of slipping and a hard time getting traction going up a hill near my house. Coming down hard right now and wind also blowing.
I’m in London and my yard and cars are white. It was raining and quickly changed over to snow and it is snowing very hard. It would be hard to see to drive.
Didn’t get a single flake most of the day here in Lancaster until about 4 hours ago. Just measured several spots and we have between 4-4.5″, with snow still coming down. It was coming down very very hard for several hours here. Heaviest bands look like they are gone by us now. This bad boy came out of nowhere after cold drizzle all day.
Pouring the snow here in Corbin!
Snow really coming down in Keavy. Been snowing about 45 minutes and the ground is covered. Temp is 34 and the roads are wet though. Late week snow? Wonder how much will be predicted then what we actually get?
I am WEEPING! It “snowed” ALL day in Louisville. NOTHING stuck until the end of the storm coincided with lower temps. I’d love an inch an hour burst..for once!
I would love to know what CB is thinking for the Wed/Thurs. snow!
Boy, I was really excited that I got to see CB’s post “first” earlier today. I don’t guess I will make that mistake again. I might get criticized by someone who can’t spell, or at least proofread. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. I guess I will just read the blog instead of being a part of it. Thanks for destroying my self esteem. NOT!
Snowing heavily here on Lakeville in Magoffin County….the grass is already beginning to cover.
Me too!
The nam which has been the most aggressive with the moisture is starting to come out. The 0z run.Myself I have given up on any major snowfall for the rest of the year here in Lou.
The last two events we were forecast up to a total of 6″ between the two storms.
All we ended up with was a dusting. I am waving the white flag. Please let there be spring soon.
By the way I love the camera view out of Lexington. (DID THEY HAVE A MAJOR ICE STORM).
There are way too many disrespectful people on here. It would not hurt my feelings one bit if Christ simply just revoked posting privilages all together so that no one can post. Time after time Chris has asked and stated and done everything but beg. There are children who come on this site to read about the weather and are exposed to adult oriented foul language. When will some of you understand that. Im saying something because I like being able to post on this site. I have known Chris for quite a few years now and I just deplore the fact that people cannot show more respect than they do on here.
MattNash, I really do not appreciate your implications, however, you are entitled to your opinion.
I’ve posted on this blog for years and have never posted a “smart a…” response.
Tim knows that.
If you want a descent size snow Ky &tn border is your best bet. The 0z nam was not that impressive. Nothing has really change from the last run.
been snowing in Barbourville for about an hour, heavy huge wet flakes, already a good 1/2″ to 1″ on the grassy areas…
I agree with about 99% of your comment. The 1% I don’t agree with is Chris is referenced as Christ. He knows his stuff and is able to turn the other cheek when it comes to the comments section of his blog but I wouldn’t call him Christ.
Just joking. I know it was a typo:)
The snow has ended in Shelbyville. After 10+ hours of snow we got 1″.
Would have to disagree.I thought it was alot better run than previous runs.
Was typing about the lastest run of the nam and seen CB’S tweet.Anyways was gonna say lastest run looks alot better than any of the other runs.So you never know.
Not quite 10 hrs here in Bardstown…that’s about what we got, too…?! 🙁 I am giving up…my folks in OK have gotten 18+ in the past 6 days, 4-10″ more tom/Wed. SUX!!!?? :/
Frankfort snow totals are all based on elevation. I Work in downtown Frankfort close to the KY river, little to no snow Accumulation! I live on the east side 5 miles from downtown 2 in. plus on the ground. Elevation 200FT higher up & a degree or 2 colder made alot of difference!
Not to get anyone’s hope up but the lastest run of the nam looks alot better than any of the run’s before. Also CB tweeted about this. The previous run did not have kansas with snow but now they do.Could this be a sign of the Famous NW turn.
Switch-Over just began Here in Middlesboro at a balmy 39 degrees. I don’t see how it is (At this temp) but it’s snowing very hard….very wet and heavy.
Judging by the radar, it won’t last long enough to accumulate (I hope I’m wrong and we get 10 inches like some places did out of this little system) but it’s still nice to see.
What a long day, of little to no snow. haah
Good, solid 2-3 inches in North Mercer and Anderson.
Please oh please….where might I see this?
Great, another tease to keep us in the game. If the gfs,can &euro start trending north then i might get excited.
Maybe I should of said basically the same. It is still nothing to get real excited about along the ohio river.
lol wow I cant believe I typed that myself lol.
Well, it is still snowing here in Somerset, and we probably have about an inch to an inch and a half on the ground. I was surprised we have that much, as warm as t got here today. At 3 pm, it was 52 degrees, and by 5 it was down to 37 and we had a wintery mix.
Now, it is 31 and still snowing. Roads have some slush, but, mostly wet. That could be worse in the morning….flash freeze=slippery driving conditions!
Anyway, happy for Western KY and their snow. Maybe thr rest of us will get in on the fun from the mid week storm….
I didn’t think it was going to get this bad. I live in Sand Gap (Jackson Co) and it is really bad and slick! Jackson Co Schools have not called off yet but I am sure they will! It’s amazing just how fast it is coming down and windy! Be safe, and thanks for all you do Chris!
GFS ensembles from earlier today coming north as well.
Let the northwest trend begin! Love Chris’s new post 😉
Thats what we like to hear mitch. Let the games begin (one last time for a while anyway)
We have 5″
Everybody be sure to click on Lincoln’s name when you see it–help with his site count for his class. Besides, some nice pics!
Hahahhaha..guys watch this its hilarious. literally you will laugh i showed the people in the weather chat. He is talking about the super bowl.

If you remember CB’S post about a big factor in the mid week storm will be what happens over the next few days along the east coast.IMO at Hr 24 on the nam, the junk Looks like it’s scooting out of the way. Might keep our storm intact?I know its a long shot but there is other signs that at least keep us in the ballgame. Also might add that no one is teasing anybody. All you can do is try to figure out what the models are saying an go from there. It is what it is..
If we get that westward trend then se ky will end up with mainly rain. That’s what happened last time.
Lastest UKMET Precip at HR 48

Not posting this to get your hopes up.Just showing what the models are saying at this time.
well its finally snowing but looks like it won’t last long by looking at radar.I heard one of the Mets say tonight this next storm would skirt us to the south whats your thoughts Chris?
Finally snowing here.
