Good Saturday, everyone. It’s a much colder day and it’s rather gloomy out there as our front continues to push to our east. Another system is right on its heels and rolls in here late today with rain and some winter weather carrying us into Sunday. This kicks off a pattern where Old Man Winter looks to take full control again and he may be locking in for the long haul.

Most areas are cloudy today with temps ranging from the mid 30s to mid 40s, depending on where you live. Some drizzle or a light shower may also be noted from time to time.

As low pressure develops to our south, another slug of precipitation expands in here quickly this evening and continues into tonight. Some of this could be in a mix or as a band of snow, especially in the north. Behind that could come a few rain and snow showers into Sunday.

The NAM fam is the most flaketastic of the models…

Hi Res NAM future radar…

The NAM hasn’t exactly been burning up the snow forecasts this winter, so let’s keep that in mind. 😜

Of course, the GFS has actually been worse…

The Canadian is in between and likely the best solution…

Here are your radars to follow along…

A clipper system then dives into the Ohio Valley on Tuesday and may bring a little rain or snow into the region…

A much slower-moving and stronger system looks to follow that up by Thursday and Friday. Depending on how this tracks, rain or snow or a combo of the two may show up…

EURO

In looking down the weather road through January, the EURO Weeklies continue to do an about face as they continue to see the major blocking in Greenland and the Arctic. The end result is a continuation of the deep trough in our part of the world. Here are the weekly 500mb height anomalies…

Week 4

That’s the type of pattern that can deliver a lot of cold air and winter weather around here. The same EURO Weeklies are seeing the snow potential into early February…

Again, don’t take the numbers as anything more than the model showing lots of snow chances around here and throughout the entire region. This is also a pattern that can deliver snow into the deep south at times.

I will have updates later today. Have a good one and take care.
