Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a very nice day across the Commonwealth and we have one more nice one before a super busy pattern settles in. This comes with a series of storms systems bringing a lot of precipitation to the region over the next few weeks and, likely, through the rest of winter and into spring.
The first system throws the showers at us by Sunday with the main show arriving Sunday night and Monday. That’s when heavy rainfall is likely to show up across most of Kentucky. A general 1″-3″ of rain will fall during this time, with the potential for a little more than that.
The GFS continues to show the heaviest totals…
It has the ICON still on its side…
The Canadian and European Models are a little lighter, but still up there…

A few thunderstorms could even show up with this spike in temps on Monday. Gusty winds will be a player, too.
The next system arrives right behind this late Wednesday into Thursday and has much more potential to become a snow maker around here.

Again, this is a pattern full of systems working through here. The GFS Ensembles show well above normal precipitation over the next two weeks…
The bullseye is right on top of us!
Enjoy the rest of your day and take care.
I am preparing myself for another week of cold rain.
Better than ice!
Maybe the forecast will be Wrong and we will have Heavy Snow instead of Heavy Rain. lol
Let’s hope! I don’t see the snow! Frigid temps we were supposed to have. I doing reverse psychology on the weather. Lol …
I was hoping this winter wouldn’t produce a major flooding event here in south-central Indiana, but it’s starting to look like February will make it 4 years in a row. I was really enjoying the drier winter although I wish it had snowed more.
Looks like it’s time for our yearly flood event in SEKY.
I don’t think we’ve went more than two days without rain/snow here.
