Good evening, weather weenies. I told ya I would drop by for a quick update and here I am in all my Saturday evening glory. 🙂 The focus of the forecast is the same as it’s been for the past several days. A touch of winter weather early Sunday… Heavy rain and a few storms for Monday… And the potential to put snow on the ground later Wednesday and Thursday.
Let’s talk about the brief period of freezing rain or wintry mix late tonight and early Sunday. With a frozen ground and temps tonight below freezing, it won’t take much to cause some travel issues across the northern half of the state.
The models continue to see the light freezing rain…

Again, it won’t take much to cause some travel issues in this kind of setup.
Rounds of heavy rain and some thunderstorms will then take control from late Sunday night through Monday night. A general 1″-3″ of rain will be noted…
The models continue to back up my forecast…
The GFS continues to show the highest totals…

Gusty winds will also become a player and could top 40mph at times on Monday.
The next system continues to look like a snow maker later Wednesday into Thursday…
How much of a snow maker depends on the strength of that low, but the potential is there for a thumper. I will talk more about that with the full update later tonight.
Here are your radars to follow the development of the action to our west…
Enjoy the rest of the evening and take care.
The storm Wed. appears to be the best chance we have had for accumulating snow across the whole state so far this winter.
I hope it all pans out.
