Good evening, all. Heavy rain and a few strong thunderstorms will kick in later tonight and take us through Monday, possibly causing a few problems. Beyond this comes a snow maker for Wednesday and early Thursday, but the extent of this isn’t known just yet.

A touch of freezing drizzle continues this evening for areas of northern Kentucky. The NWS in Wilmington has now issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Bracken, Lewis, Mason and Robertson Counties. Another Winter Weather Advisory is out for Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties for Monday morning as the rain may start as a period of freezing rain.

I’m glad they got the Advisories out after what happened this morning. Still, how can anyone justify this donut hole south of Lima, Ohio…

I honestly have no idea how any forecaster could look at that and think it’s a proper way to do things. Leaving out 4 counties that are TOTALLY surrounded by a Winter Weather Advisory? Unfortunately, we see this frequently around here.

From here, the focus turns to heavy rainfall. My forecast hasn’t changed since I first made it 3 days ago…

The SPC continues with a low-end risk for severe storms in western and central Kentucky…

We will also have to be on guard for another round of freezing rain early Wednesday across far northern Kentucky. This is something showing up well on the future radar from the Hi Res NAM…

The HRRR isn’t as aggressive with the freezing rain, but shows the thunderstorm action a little better…

Those afternoon and evening storms may have some pretty good winds with them.

Temps are going to be absolutely all over the place over the next few days. Check out this temperature animation starting at 7am Monday and ending at 1am Wednesday…

The middle of the week system continues to look like a snow maker across our region. The late day run of the Short Range Canadian has a healthy look…

The GFS is a little faster with this…

The EURO sees this a little better with each run…

Here are your radars to track the increasing rains from the southwest…

Enjoy the rest of the evening and take care.
