Good afternoon, everyone. Our snow maker continues to roll from west to east across Kentucky and everything still appears to be on track for a impactful system through tonight. This snow maker will create slick roads for much of the state and region. For that reason, a Winter Weather Advisory is out for much of the state.

My LAST CALL FOR SNOWFALL is the same one I already have out…

Will that be perfect? No, but it’s the best I can do. 😁❄💪

In addition to roads becoming snow covered, a significant freeze up is also likely after the initial flakes melt on contact with roads. All that moisture is a bad thing with temps crashing through the 20s. Winds will also be gusty and give us wind chills in the single digits later tonight.

As far as the models are concerned, we find a similar theme, but with minor placement variations showing up…

Hi Res NAM

Short Range Canadian…

This isn’t a major system, but it’s a decent snowfall that will become a high impact travel event.

I also have no changes to my thoughts on the system coming this weekend and early next week. This starts as a thumper snow/mix for parts of the state before rain on Sunday then snow, snow showers and snow squalls from Sunday night through Tuesday.

I will have the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm and with another KWC update this evening. I leave you with your snow tracking radars…

Enjoy the day and stay safe of you’re travelling. Take care.
