Good evening, everybody. It’s a pleasant start to the final weekend of January, but a big storm system is ready to roll right on top of the region. This will bring winter weather that switches to rain then back to snow. Following along may make ya dizzy. 😵

The initial push of moisture is likely to start as snow or a wintry mix across parts of central and eastern Kentucky, with the greatest potential the farther north you live. The late day model runs are a little more enthusiastic with this potential.

The NAM looks a little overboard…

The EURO continues to show something similar…

The GFS is lighter…

Again, everyone goes over to rain from southwest to northeast by Sunday morning. Rain continues through Sunday evening before switching to snow from northwest to southeast Sunday night. Rounds of light snow, snow showers and snow squalls then continue through Monday and into Tuesday across the eastern half of the state.

The NAM snowfall map goes through 1am Tuesday…

The EURO continues to really pick up on higher totals Monday and Monday night. Here’s the model through 7am Tuesday…

The GFS continues to look a little light…

I will have the First Call For Snowfall coming later tonight. Have a good one and take care.
