Good afternoon, folks. I’m running way late with this so let’s go ahead and get into the main focus of the forecast and that’s on the snow system moving in over the weekend. Data continues to suggest a bigger impact of a system that targets southern and southeastern Kentucky with some areas potentially seeing 4″ or more of snow.
For that reason, let’s go with a Winter Storm THREAT for the southeast for late Saturday and early Sunday. Here’s my early look at potential snowfall…
Again, that’s the first call and I will be updating that several times this evening through tomorrow as this system comes into better focus.
The NAM is really hitting this hard…
Hi Res NAM
The GFS is a little more generous across the state…
The EURO is playing catch up…
Looking down the road, the extreme pattern continues to take shape next week. The GFS seems to have a much better handle than the EURO…
Waves of winter weather can really put it down across our region through next weekend.
The GFS continues to pump out some big cold…
I will have updates on WKYT and another KWC update this evening. Have a good one and take care.
My only comment on a week away bitter cold, is that it’s a week away…. it was supposed to be that cold this weekend… when we say we can’t trust the models, don’t trust the models that far out.
I’m glad it’s not that cold!!!!!
I know models were showing -5 to -10 lows for Sunday night here near Bloomington, IN and now it’s the forecast low is 14
Hey W. Ky. looks like you’re finally getting some action.
Here in Louisville all we are good for is 2” at most per snow event.
Looks like we will nickel& dime it all winter long.
old school set up!!!!!
Canadian now showing ice along with the GFS for late next week for EKY.Will change so don’t make a milk and bread run yet.Really would be bad with the cold air models are showing.Just something to keep a eye on.

People… we don’t need ice!!! I pray not !
I think it’s dangerous when you can’t depend on weather models to give one an idea what the weather will be three days out.
Old people like me need to prepare to what may be down the ole weather road.
I’m talking about Arctic cold and maybe an Ice storm on the return flow from the gulf.
NWS in Indianapolis is saying 1-2″ and for once I actually agree with them usually they are too conservative, but for whatever reason they aren’t this time.
