Good afternoon, folks. I’m running way late with this so let’s go ahead and get into the main focus of the forecast and that’s on the snow system moving in over the weekend. Data continues to suggest a bigger impact of a system that targets southern and southeastern Kentucky with some areas potentially seeing 4″ or more of snow.

For that reason, let’s go with a Winter Storm THREAT for the southeast for late Saturday and early Sunday. Here’s my early look at potential snowfall…

Again, that’s the first call and I will be updating that several times this evening through tomorrow as this system comes into better focus.

The NAM is really hitting this hard…

Hi Res NAM

The GFS is a little more generous across the state…

The EURO is playing catch up…

Looking down the road, the extreme pattern continues to take shape next week. The GFS seems to have a much better handle than the EURO…

Waves of winter weather can really put it down across our region through next weekend.

The GFS continues to pump out some big cold…

I will have updates on WKYT and another KWC update this evening. Have a good one and take care.
