Good Saturday, everyone. The weekend is FINALLY here and we have a chance to thaw out over the next few days as temps go well above freezing. Once into next week, we may even have a short-lived case of spring fever breaking out around here. #TeamSpring is happy about that.
Let me begin by saying thank you guys for everything you do for me and KWC. The past few weeks have been among the harshest you will ever find around here and I appreciate all the reports you guys give me. Twitter has changed the comment game, but you made this month the most active month in the site’s history. The blog struggled to keep up at times, but that’s gonna happen with 3 million visits in a week.
We should also say a big thank you to all the men and women on the front lines of this winter weather. Road crews, first responders, power crews are just a few of the folks we should all be thankful for. To those who have gone without power or suffered any kind of damage, our hearts and prayers are with you guys.
Our Saturday is starting out with some areas flirting with zero or below as a snow pack and clear skies go to work. By the afternoon, temps respond into the upper 20s north and mid and upper 30s south and west.
Southwest winds boost temps into the 40s as we head into Sunday. 50 may show up in the south…
This is ahead of a cold front working in from the west, bringing mainly showers our way Sunday night and Monday morning…
Temps behind this only drop to the upper 30s and low 40s on Monday afternoon. Behind it, things turn really mild for Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s when temps surge through the 50s and likely reach 60 degrees or higher.
Unfortunately, that won’t last very long as a cold front drops in Thursday, bringing a few showers and colder air. A wave of low pressure may develop and scoot east along this front with some rain and snow by Friday. Additional systems could follow that up with a seasonal brand of cold to end February…
I’m going to scale things back to two posts a day for a little bit. Your friendly weatherdude is pretty worn down right now, both mentally and physically. No worries… I’m tough.
I’ll get you another update on later today. You guys stay safe, stay warm and take care.
Get the Boats out
Do you think we will be expecting any major flooding?
Thanks Chris, Over the past week you were spot on with the weather in my county. Yesterday, early afternoon our electrical power when out, but only lasted for 5 hours. I had the portable generator in operation, but It can only supply electric to just a few appliances just to get by. Unfortunately not the two heat pumps.
Yes, big thanks to all the Men and Women who put their lives in jeopardy to keep us all safe and that includes meteorologist like you Chris.
Looking forward to the warmer days ahead, but not really ready for Spring just yet. Still looking and waiting for one of those big late season Snowstorms. I know that sounds crazy, but I am a true Snow Lover always have been since I saw my first Snowstorm sometime back in the 1950’s.
Take care Chris and have a good rest you deserve it !
Astoundingly good work, Mr Bailey! Forecasts, predicted consequences, superior interpretation -all these give us weather news to make decisions and guide our plans. I nominate you for the meteorology version of and Emmy, Oscar, or Tony award. Well done. Now rest. Remember that winter is not over!!
