Good Tuesday, everyone. It’s a pretty nice weather day taking shape across the Commonwealth as we start to focus on the potential for some big storms over the next few days. That happens as a strong low pressure rolls into the region from the rest, bringing a severe storms threat with it.

Our day starts with showers departing the region…

This is on the leading edge of a big temperature spike with readings into the upper 60s to low 70s for afternoon highs. Those temps may spike into the 70s on Wednesday ahead of the main action.

A powerful low pressure then spins our way Wednesday and Thursday and will give us the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. This is a map I made a few days ago and it still looks to be in pretty good shape…

Here’s the Wednesday Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

That will then focus farther southeast into Thursday, but another pocket of severe storms may show up around the low here in Kentucky. Here’s the Thursday Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC…

The main players from the storms will be damaging winds and large hail.

In addition to the severe threat, heavy rains are likely to fall and this could cause local high water issues to develop.

The models differ on where the storms really crank, but you can clearing see how they will pack a heavy rain punch for areas getting in under them…

Temps come down to chilly levels for for Friday before bouncing back for a nice March weekend ahead. 70 degree temps surge back in early next week ahead of our next storm system that mbring another severe threat by the middle of the week.

I will have another update later today, so check back. Have a good one and take care.
