Good Sunday to one and all. We continue to track another big blast of September air heading our way over the next few days. This will bring more below normal temps and there could be another one showing up for the final week of the month. Woot.
What’s left of our tropical system is bypassing us just to the south and southeast, leaving us with steamy temps and scattered storms. Here are your radars to follow along…
Monday looks like an active weather day as our cold front surges toward us from the northwest, touching off rounds of showers and storms. A few of the storms may be on the strong side during the afternoon and evening. Here’s the Monday Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…
Here’s how this plays out…
Much cooler air comes in behind all this as we get in on another blast of September air for a few days. Highs are generally in the 70s with lows in the 50s into the middle of the week.
Another system then dives in here by the end of the week with rounds of thunderstorms kicking in and likely going through next weekend. This could be a setup that delivers some healthy storms and healthy rains in here…
Temps remain tame during this time and that takes us to the closing days of June. This is when another strong cold front tries to invade the region from the northwest. With such a busy pattern with cold fronts, above normal rainfall will be likely. The EURO Ensembles through the 4th of July…
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Make it a great Sunday and take care.
For the first time all year, Northern IL and the Chicago Metro Area has been placed in the Enhanced Category of severe weather for Sunday and Sunday night by the SPC. This will likely include supercell thunderstorms later in the day and evening with all severe hazards (wind, hail, tornado) possible.
It all depends on the track of the disturbance and the position of a warm front for what areas are most favored.
I have to work all day and evening, so I’ll have to monitor any severe weather there that might develop.
Mike, I hope you have a safe place to go if these storms go above the predicted severe limits ?
Tomorrow is the best chance of any rain here in central Kentucky, but I read this morning that the cold front will stall around the Ohio River so most of the heavy rains will stay to my North again.
“The more things change the more they stay the same.” Good way to sum up the weather over the last several years. In my opinion, I will have to agree with climatologist that we may be in a back and forth with ENSO. Going from La Nina to neutral phase and back to La Nina leaving El Nino phases a rare occurrence.
Schroeder, are you from Anderson county? You mentioned it going north of you. I was wondering about rain here in south Mercer.
I reside in Taylor County Kentucky.
Happy Father’s Day to Chris and all of the dads here!
May I ask what ever happen to Coffee lady? I haven’t seen her post in quite a while.
Sadly, she passed away last summer.
Sadly, she pas-sed away last summer.
Mercer. Unfortunately, Coffee lady (Chloe Hargis) passed away in July of 2020.
Strong, damaging tornadoes have hit the Western Suburbs of Chicago hard late Sunday evening. I’ll have more details later.
