Good Tuesday, folks. We have a very active pattern taking shape across our region as the remnants of Tropical Storm Danny and a big upper level low get set to impact our weather. Danny is the first item up for bids, then the ULL moves in to kick off the month of July.
Today is a steamy day with humidity levels way up there. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will also be noted, but we aren’t seeing widespread action until later tonight and Wednesday. Here are your radars for the day…
Tropical Storm Danny moved into South Carolina last night and is working quickly to the northwest while weakening over land. Here’s the latest from the National Hurricane Center…

What’s left of this system is spinning into Tennessee late today and will then get drawn northward across Kentucky. Showers and a few strong thunderstorms will increase tonight into Wednesday as this happens. Still, this won’t be too concentrated. As a front approaches from the north, some strong storms may fire up later in the day. Here’s the Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC…

From there, it’s all about an upper level low dropping in here from Thursday into the weekend. How fast, or slow, this thing moves through here. The latest GFS is a compromise between the slower solutions it had been showing and the faster EURO solutions of late…
The quicker we can move this thing through here, the better our actual 4th of July will be. As of now, the most widespread rain falls from late Wednesday through early Friday…
So the forecast for Saturday and the 4th look to have much lower rain chances, but this is subject to change depending on the speed of the low. Regardless, the air is much cooler than normal through the entire holiday weekend…
Once into next week, temps rebound back to normal and I can see a shot of some heat making a run at us not too long after that. But, it won’t hold as I expect the pattern to throw another deep trough at us for the middle and end of July. Also, watch the tropics!!!! 🌀
Make it a great day and take care.

Here’s hoping that everyone receives a good soaking rain before we get to the holiday weekend.
My local forecast for the Independence Day is calling for mostly Sunny with a high near 80 degrees.
Always watching the Tropics.
The high pressure that’s been setting on top of KY last few days have kept us from getting some of the rain that just out our west and north is been getting last few days
Hey, Winterlover how’s all the crops in Western Kentucky (Union County) doing ?
Crops are all doing well so far here in Taylor County, but soil moisture is beginning to decline.
Your right, that the high pressure ridge has been keeping any chances of rain out of the state, hopefully it will move more to the west and allow the northwest flow to bring cold fronts farther south with rain before Saturday. We shall see.
Schdroeder , our crops are looking good we been fortune to have some timely rain here. We’re not hurting as much as Taylor Co is
Here is the link to the summary of the flash flooding and tornadoes that occurred in the Chicago Metro Area this past weekend on June 25-26th. There are some pretty amazing photos included also. A threatening sky over downtown Chicago on Saturday afternoon actually triggered a Tornado Warning for the City of Chicago proper for the first time in 11 years. This storm did not produce any tornadoes in Chicago, fortunately.
