Good Saturday to one and all. July is wrapping up much cooler than normal as another rain maker works across the state. This is in response to a bigger push of cool air dropping into the region as we head into the first week of August. A week featuring temps well below normal and the potential for an upper level low to bring some showers.

A wave of low pressure is rolling along our boundary slowly working across the Tennessee Valley today. This will bring an increasing swath of showers and a few thunderstorms from west to east. We may see a corridor of some pretty good rains setting up late today into tonight and that will have to be watched for potential high water issues. That’s especially true for areas hard hit by Friday morning flooding, but the heaviest rains may stay across the south and west.

The Storm Prediction Center even has a low-end severe risk in the far west late today…

Here are your radars for the day…

This system pulls away early Sunday with skies becoming partly sunny with winds gusting up ahead of another cold front arriving late in the day. This may have a narrow band of showers and storms with it late in the day and evening.

This is part of our deep trough diving into the eastern half of the country. This leaves an upper level low behind that spins on top of us through much of the week…

That keeps our temps well below normal through the first week of August, but it may also bring an increasingly unsettled period for the middle and end of the week. Watch how the weather goes in reverse with showers and storms…

That is another highly anomalous pattern in the summer of 2021 and is just one of many we’ve seen this year.

Have a great day and take care.
