Good Sunday to one and all. We have rounds of showers and storms kicking in across the region today as tropical moisture streams in ahead of Tropical Storm Fred. This system is working through the eastern Gulf of Mexico and what’s left of it will impact our weather through the upcoming week.
Showers and storms are kicking in out there today and they are streaming in from the south. This action is coming at us in waves, so it’s not all day stuff. Locally heavy downpours will be possible and the radars will help you find the drops…
Local flash flooding issues are possible today and this will likely carry us through the week ahead. That’s because rounds of tropical rain producing showers and storms will be common during this time. The initial surge of juice is out ahead of Fred down in the Gulf of Mexico, but what’s left of this system may move over us by Wednesday or Thursday.
Fred continues to track farther west, giving the storm a better chance of becoming a hurricane before making landfall. The latest track from the National Hurricane Center is now for landfall near the Alabama/Mississippi border…

The latest spaghetti plots from the hurricane models are similar and bring the remnant low into Kentucky…
If we look at the HWRF, we can follow the path of this storm and the impacts here into Kentucky…
That track could not only bring a high water threat, but could also spawn a few strong storms.
Behind all this comes Grace. This system is going to have to fight through a lot of land over the next few days before it can get to the Gulf of Mexico and this will keep it from strengthening. Here’s the latest info and track on Grace from the NHC…

That system may very well stay on a westerly course through the Gulf with little, if any, impact on our weather. Still, it’s early on in the Grace game.
Overall, this is a wet setup across the lower Ohio Valley into the Tennessee Valley over the next few weeks. The EURO Ensembles show the core of above normal rainfall on top of these areas…
Temps will be rather tame and likely average normal or below during this time.
Have a great Sunday and take care.

Looks like my neck of woods will get spare by Fred here in western ky.. Have a good day!!
I think it’s too early to make that prediction. Rain showers are in my local forecast all next week and I’m not that far from your area of Kentucky.
I hope you get the rain you need sometime next week.
Have a great Sunday !
