Good Sunday to one and all. It’s a another warmer than normal day, but that’s about to change in a big way. We have a significant blast of October air on the way in the week ahead and this will be introduced by rounds of showers and storms. Quite a bit of rain will fall before the chill settles in.
Temps today are generally in the low and middle 80s for many, but showers and storms will go up through the day. Just like Saturday, the greatest chance is across the west and south. This is where additional heavy rain will be noted. Your daily dose of radars are all fired up to track the moisture…
Showers and storms then increase from south to north this evening through Monday. This is where heavy rains will likely show up across many areas, with the greatest potential into central Kentucky. Temps on Monday will be held way down.
A cold front works our way later Tuesday with more showers and storms rolling through. How fast does this fall front move through here? That’s the main question as there is the potential this thing slows down with a cutoff low developing along it near our region. That would keep rain and some storms through Wednesday into early Thursday.
The GFS has given in to what the other models have been showing with a slower progression…
Here’s the GFS rainfall forecast through Thursday…
The Canadian continues with the slower solution…
The rain numbers from that run…
The ICON is also seeing the heavy totals…
This system brings in well below normal numbers with highs in the 60s and lows deep into the 40s. You know what that means? I means…

Another system tries to drop in here next weekend with another one into the final week of the month. The GFS is picking up on this potential…
I will have another update for you guys later today, so check back. Until then, have a great day and take care.
The ground in South Central Kentucky is saturated, and a string of early morning/overnight rain showers has prevented me from mowing my front lawn, which has reached a height of 6″ to 8″.
Pot of Chili weather, I’m ready for ya!
