Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a blustery day in the bluegrass state as we get set for frost on the pumpkins later tonight. As the week wears on, we have a full blown major fall storm system set to impact our region into the start of the Halloween weekend.
Frost shows up tonight across areas with clear skies. Readings may actually drop to 32 or below in some areas for a light freeze. The models continue to show the low numbers…
My thoughts on the ‘monster’ storm haven’t changed one bit since last week. This is set to impact our weather from Wednesday night through Saturday night with rounds of rain, gusty winds and chilly temps.

The first few weeks of November will likely feature cold shots diving into the region. Can we get the first flakes of the season during this time? This is something the Ensembles have been hinting at and now the operational models are trying to do the same.
None of this is to be taken verbatim because I’m simply pointing out overall trends. The GFS has a chance later next week…
And the following week…
Again, those are single model runs and the scenario will change drastically from run to run, but we look at the overall trends for medium range forecasting. That’s something I’ve been trying to drive home for years and years.
