Good Friday afternoon, gang. Our cold and gorgeous early fall pattern continues right on into the upcoming weekend so let’s make plans to get out and enjoy it. Once we get into next week, the overall pattern starts to change once again. It’s a week featuring mild temps giving way to the potential for some wintertime.

Temps over the weekend continue to climb as we hang on to the sunshine.

The numbers keep climbing into early next week as they reach the 60s as a strong southwest flow sets up ahead of a deepening system arriving later next week.

That system is part of a deepening trough digging into the east and this shows up well on both the GFS and GFS Ensembles. Check out the animations showing that trough and one diving back in here behind it a few days later…

At the surface, the models are showing two systems now late next week into the following weekend. All models now agree on going from rain and thunder to wintertime…
