Good afternoon, folks. Our stretch of gorgeous fall weather continues ahead of a major pattern change blowing in before the week is over. This will usher in much colder air back into the region and even give us the potential for some snowflakes over the weekend.
Here’s a brief rundown on how the change may play out:
- A cold front blows across the state late Thursday with a gusty line of showers and storms ahead of it.
- Winds may gust to 40mph or a bit higher as the front moves in.
- Temps ahead of the front spike to near 70 then crash through the 40s right behind it.
- A secondary push of colder air moves in Friday.
- That push has the chance to bring a few sprinkles or flakes in here Friday night and Saturday.
- Highs on Saturday struggle to get out of the 30s making it feel even colder.
- After a break on Sunday, another system drops in Sunday night and Monday and could bring a swath of some rain and snow.
As far as what the models are showing, the EURO seems to be handling things fairly well. Here’s what it’s doing with the first cold shot digging in here…
You can see how it has a touch of rain and flake action for some Friday night and early Saturday.
It’s also making a bigger deal of the second system diving in here…
That would be another big wind maker on Sunday with rain going over to wrap around rain and light snows Sunday night and Monday.
The Canadian Model sees the first system in similar fashion as the EURO…
It has a much colder look with the second system…
The GFS continues to be plagued by the progressive bias it has. Here’s the first system…
The second system is also likely too progressive…
It’s always interesting to watch how the individual models handle their respective biases.
Moral of the weather story is we have our first real chance of seeing widespread flakes flying behind this second system. ❄❄
Make it a great rest of your day and take care.
