Good evening, everyone. Rounds of heavy rain and a few thunderstorms continue to push across the state as a front hangs tough. Local high water issues are very possible through tonight before colder air finally wins the battle later Saturday. This sets the stage for a colder pattern with a couple of systems to watch for Christmas week.

Some areas of western Kentucky have now picked up more than 2″ of rain since Thursday and this is the area to watch for high water issues. Heavier rains will increase across the rest of the state as our front lifts back to the north tonight.

Here are your radars for the day…

Showers and storms will continue into Saturday as our cold front works in from the west. This means one heck of a temperature ride as temps rise tonight and reach the 60s across central and eastern Kentucky by morning. Those numbers then tank from west to east as the day goes on. Watch this temp animation from 7am through 11pm Saturday…

This sets the state for a cold Sunday with temps staying in the 30s. Here’s your temp animation from 7am-7pm Sunday…

With the cold air crashing in here Saturday night and Sunday morning, the chance is there for a few snowflakes to show up. You can see that on the future radar from the HRRR…

The setup for Christmas week is for a couple of systems to roll our way, especially by Christmas weekend…

Those are likely rain makers, but you can see some flakes getting close.

The extended setup as we get ready to close out the year finds the various ensembles continuing to recognize blocking showing up…
