Good afternoon, folks. Our winter storm is blasting central and eastern Kentucky out there today and it’s causing all kinds of issues. Several inches of heavy wet snow and a little bit of ice are teaming up to give us another major winter storm.
At the end of the day, I still see very little to change my overall impression of how things play out…
Again, my main concern is on the western edge of the snow because it’s a super sharp cutoff. Will this be perfect? Nope… But I feel it’s certainly on the right path. Some areas of the southeast may come in with the under because of a little drier air.
It’s always good to have the EURO and NAM on board with similar forecasts…
I have you guys all hooked up with your radars and cams to track this winter storm across Kentucky. I will have updates through the day and on WKYT-TV.

I can remover a few years back there were comments made on here by some people from southeastern part of KY complaining about they always get shut out of getting snow while some other pats of the state was getting the brute of the snow. Now it seems it has flip flop that southeastern is getting the snow while most part of western ky getting left out. Just a thought. Lol
At most 3 inches of snow in my backyard
Don’t feel lonely Pikeville in the east only got a dusting on cars. Rain and sleet cut down on us I guess like Chris predicted ,it’s just a very frustrating area to live in if you like snow.
That should be remember at the first line of sentence. Dang phone or my typing
Nothing here either, a few minutes of freezing rain and cloudy gloomy skies, followed by a few minutes of Snowflakes, which amounted to 0.2 inches of garbage total.
La Nina Winters very seldom preform in Western Kentucky and in my area for a Major Snowstorm. My definition of a Major Snowstorm is 18 to 24 inches of Snow.
NOAA came out with a recent forecast that the La Nina we currently have will go into the neutral phase sometime this Spring and may return back to another La Nina in the Fall and Winter 2022-23 ?
Thanks Chris, really enjoyed the web cams where those areas in Eastern Kentucky received a decent Snowfall today. That area of Kentucky is truly beautiful with the Hills and Mountains in the Snow.
738pm in Pikeville. as if this comment, we have barely a dusting. not even snowing anymore or raining. today has been mostly rain with the occasional mixing. looks like areas outside Pikeville have got some snow. I’ve heard people say for years that Pikeville is a weather anomaly
It truly is I think it’s the snow dome it’s very frustrating if you like snow. Yes the dome is alive and well in Pikeville Kentucky. On the bright side maybe we won’t lose power.
Had about 3 1/2 inches at my house in north Richmond. All in all a solid forecast by Chris.
I don’t know what happened, but I could not leave a comment this morning as I did the other day. I was locked out of the site. It’s working, for now anyway. I hope it continues. Anyway, our snow total in Richmond Kentucky seems to be pretty decent but I have no clue on the amount. My mother got at least 8 inches in Corbin while a friend of ours down in Pineville only received an inch. It’s incredible how just a few miles made a difference. I’m ready for spring already. I can’t stand being stuck in this apartment building. #TeamSpring
