Good Sunday to one and all. It’s another below normal temp day, but the good news is it’s not as cold as where we’ve been. As we head into a new week, the pattern is fairly calm before it threatens to turn up for Super Bowl Weekend. That’s when a storm system may show up.

The only system we have to track over the next couple of days is a weak one dropping in from the northwest. This may bring a couple of snow showers or flurries in here Monday into early Tuesday. Here’s where the NAM thinks can see some flakes flying…

The next system rolling in behind this arrives later Wednesday into Thursday and may also spit out a few snow shower or flurries…

What happens from here is what we have to keep a close eye on. Do we get a big storm system to develop for Super Bowl Weekend or do we get just get a simple clipper looking system? That will depend on what happens with the upper levels.

The latest runs of the GFS and Canadian models keep enough separation between the northern branch and southern branch of the jet stream to prevent a big storm from developing…

That setup would give us a simple clipper type system…

The Euro has gone from having a full blown winter storm to a close call…

We shall see how things work out in the coming days, but the pattern is favorable for one of these systems to dig in and turn into something more.

Enjoy the day and take care.
