Good afternoon, folks. It’s a much different weather pattern out there today as cold winds continue to blow a few flakes across parts of the region. After a weak system zips in with some late day flakes on Super Bowl Sunday, our attention quickly turns toward a severe storms threat later next week.
Today’s weather is what it is and that’s a reminder it’s still winter. A few flurries and light snow showers are possible, and we are still watching for an area of light snow to impact areas of southeastern Kentucky later this evening and tonight.
Here are your radars to follow along…
A potent storm system then comes together Wednesday and Thursday, but the exact track of the storm system is yet to be determined. If it comes far enough north, it can bring a severe weather threat to our region.
Here’s the area the Storm Prediction Center is highlighting for Thursday..
The latest GFS is a bit south and would reduce the severe weather threat around here…
The Euro is also farther south and would imply more of a heavy rain to winter weather threat…
That’s a pretty good surge of seasonable cold coming in behind this system.
We are still likely to break into a milder overall pattern after that moves through and it’s one that looks very active into March. Tonight’s update will share some impressive precipitation numbers into the start of Meteorological Spring.
Enjoy the rest of your Dey and take care.
Boooo……. on the coming Spring !
GO BENGALS !!!
