Good afternoon, folks. It’s a sunny, but cold afternoon across the region as we turn our attention toward a very active period taking shape in the week ahead. This pattern will throw a couple of big storm systems our way, leading to the potential for flooding issues and some winter weather.

The first system rolls in here later Monday an takes us through early Wednesday and is likely a heavy rain and thunderstorm maker. Flooding and flash flooding will be possible during this time and here’s the threat area as of now…

A general 1″-3″ looks likely in the Greatest Risk area, but the GFS has a stripe of even higher amounts during this time across the south…

Obviously, that’s where the model is seeing the potential for thunderstorms to work across some of the same areas. We will also have to watch for some strong to severe storms in the west and south during this time.

Colder air comes in behind this Wednesday and lays down a boundary for the next system to roll along. That means a colder looking setup with heavy rain and winter weather possible across the state. Here’s a very early look at the possibilities…

Again, it’s pretty early in the game for anything too specific on that. My main concern during this time is the potential for flooding.

If we expand the GFS rainfall numbers for both systems, here is what it looks like…

The rainfall numbers from the Canadian…

And the EURO…

The EURO then throws another system at us late next weekend as we close out the month, but has more of a winter look…

I warned you guys this was a very active pattern!

Enjoy the rest of the day and take care.
