Good Thursday to one and all. Another major storm system is impacting the state today, bringing the potential for flooding to the south and east with a winter storm hitting the west. This is all part of the wild week of weather we’ve been talking about setting up since last week.

Our day is starting out with rain, freezing rain and some sleet across the state. The heaviest freezing rain and sleet is in the west where a Winter Storm Warning is out, but a light glaze of ice and sleet is possible all the way into areas of central and eastern Kentucky. This may create slick roads to begin the day, so please keep that in mind if you have to travel early on.

Rain then takes control from there and will be heavy at times across the south and east. That’s where flooding issues can easily develop, especially if a few thunderstorms get involved…

A cold front then works eastward through the state tonight and slowly pushes the heavy rain away from us. Colder winds blow on Friday with a few flurries or a snow shower showing up on a northwest flow.

The weekend is mainly dry, but that third system tries it’s best to bring some juice into southern Kentucky on Sunday…

Once this moves by, temps turn milder and they do so in a hurry as we head into the first few days of March. This warmer than normal pattern is backed up by the ensembles, which show a much above normal first 7 days of the new month…

Bring. It. On. 😎🌷

That said, I’m wondering if they aren’t a little too enthusiastic with this warm up.

I will have updates coming later in the day. As always, I have you guys all set to track today’s storm system…
