Good Saturday to one and all. It’s an absolutely awesome start to the weekend with warm and windy weather taking center stage. This warm air will soon lead to thunderstorms and some heavy rain Sunday into Monday. The weather picture after that will take on a much colder look.

Our Saturday features temps in the 70s with the potential for an 80 in the west and south. Winds will be very gusty and may reach 30-40mph at times as our skies feature a mix of sun and clouds. There’s also the chance for a few storms to get into western Kentucky during the evening.

Those storms come at us in waves Sunday and Monday and may put down some very heavy rainfall, but it’s not constant rains. This continues to look like a general 1″-3″ of rain across the state…

Some of the storms may even be strong or severe, especially in the west. The Storm Prediction Center has a low end severe threat in the west…

That may focus a little farther east on Monday. Here’s where the SPC has the risk area to start the new week…

Temps come down behind this system as it moves away Monday night. A seasonable brand of cold air comes in for Tuesday as skies calm down a bit. This may be followed by some wet weather later Wednesday and Thursday as a system works in from the southwest. This is ahead of a wintertime trough digging through here late week into the weekend…

That may be accompanied by another storm system that can bring some winter weather with it. How that transpires remains to be seen, but the cold behind this is very impressive.
