Good Tuesday, folks. As colder air continues to crash in, it’s time to turn our attention toward a full-blown winter setup later in the week. It’s one that can deliver accumulating snow and bitterly cold temps.

Those colder winds out there this evening into tonight may have a rain or snow shower with them. Here’s your radar to follow that possibility…

The next system rolls in from the southwest Tuesday night and Wednesday and this will bring rain to areas of central and eastern Kentucky. There’s even the chance for a few flakes to mix in across the north and northeast by Wednesday morning…

That’s a warning shot for the system coming in behind it. We have the jet stream ready to undergo a major amplification as arctic air drops into the region from the northwest. This front slams through here on Friday and has low pressure along, bringing ample moisture along for the ride. Much of that moisture looks to be in the cold air from late Friday through the first half of Saturday. That brings us an increased risk for accumulating snows for the entire region. Is it a little or a lot? It’s too soon to tell, but the setup favors some healthy mid March snows in the region.

Here’s how the EURO sees it…

All three of those bring healthy amounts of snow to the area, but vary on the location picking up on the most snow.

Temps are going to be wild. Highs Friday reach the 60s ahead of the front then quickly crash into the 20s and teens behind the boundary. Highs Saturday stay in the 20s with lows that can flirt with 10 degrees either Saturday morning or Sunday morning. Wind chills may approach 0.

Either go big or go home, winter. If it’s going to snow, make it worth it!!! 🥶

Enjoy the rest of your day and take care.
