Good Monday, everyone. A multi-day severe weather event kicks off today and goes through Thursday morning. Rounds of strong to severe storms target the region during this time, with the most widespread threat coming Wednesday through Thursday morning.

Let’s break each day down and start with today’s Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC…

Today

A few showers and strong storms will develop early today and rumble through. The greatest risk for severe storms comes during the afternoon and evening as a complex of storms moves into western Kentucky. Farther east, the severe threat is lower, but it’s not zero. Any storm that’s out there can put down a lot of rain in a short amount of time.

The Tuesday Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC looks like this…

Tuesday

That’s a low-end threat for just about the entire region and it may come in a couple of rounds. The first comes early in the day and will have a hail and high wind threat. The sun breaks out after that and temps will likely surge into the 70s. It may even feel a little humid. The threat for some strong storms returns in the afternoon and evening, but this looks more scattered in nature.

The Wednesday Severe Weather Outlook from the SPC looks much more ominous…

Wednesday

A few strong to severe storms will work from southwest to northeast early in the day. Damaging wind and hail will be the primary players. Warm and windy weather will be joined by some afternoon sun as severe weather breaks out to our west. That will then roll into western Kentucky by late afternoon and evening. That should roll into central Kentucky by late evening into the wee hours of Thursday morning. This is when damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes may show up.

Here’s the area I’m highlighting for the best chance for tornadoes…

Showers and storms will then move away early Thursday with windy and drier weather coming in later in the day and into Friday.

I will have updates as needed and will have the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm. As usual, I have you all set to track the storms across the region…
