Good Thursday, everyone. Wednesday brought quite a few severe storms to the region and we are likely to see additional big storms going up out there today. Today’s severe threat is on the leading edge of some true summertime temps through Saturday.
Let’s begin with showing where the Storm Prediction Center is looking at for today’s best severe threat…
Here’s a breakdown of how things may play out:
- Scattered storms will be noted early this morning in the far south, but that action dissipates quickly.
- Temps will reach the low and middle 80s with a mix of sun and clouds through the afternoon.
- Humidity levels will be up, making it feel much warmer.
- A complex of strong to severe storms may develop across the west or into southern Indiana this afternoon. That would roll eastward into the evening and could bring severe weather with it.
- Damaging winds and large hail are the main players. There’s still a lower tornado threat that we can’t shake.
- Local high water issues may show up.
Temps for Friday turn downright steamy with 85-90 degrees for many areas.
Steamy temps hang into Saturday as we wait on another strong to severe storms threat Saturday night into Sunday. That’s along and ahead of a strong cold front sweeping in from the west. Cooler air comes in behind that early next week.
More storms crash in by the middle of the week.
I will have the latest on WKYTI have you guys all set to track today’s action, including your exclusive interactive radar…
Possible Watch Areas
Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris, Scattered storms is right. Yesterday, we once again escape the much needed rainfall. Our monthly total remains at 2 inches, which is way below normal for May.
The Kentucky Mesonet WKU site is not displaying any information for some unknown reason. I wanted to find out what areas received the rainfall yesterday ?
Looks like things are starting to pick up to the west. Radar showing some real nasty cells.
