Good Monday to one and all. Additional rounds of strong to severe storms are rumbling across parts of the state today as a heat wave builds in from the west. This will take our heat index into the danger category for many areas in the coming days.
Let’s begin with the weather out there today and roll forward.
TODAY
- Highs surge into the mid and upper 90s in the west with a local 100 possible. Upper 80s to low 90s will be noted in the east.
- Heat index values reach the danger category for many. 100-110 for the west and 95-100 in the east.
- We are still watching for storm clusters across the central and east, and some of these may be strong or severe. These will be diving in from northwest to southeast with the greatest threat in the central and east…

WEDNESDAY
- The numbers are likely to come down a few degrees from Tuesday.
- Highs of 95-100 in the west and 90-95 east.
- Heat index values will still be in the 100-110 category.
- There’s the chance for a storm or two to go up, especially in the south and east. That can cut into temps.
THURSDAY
- A cold front drops in from the northwest late in the day.
- Showers and storms will be around in scattered fashion, and the threat is there for strong to severe storms at night.
- Highs ahead of this front will still be in the 90-95 degree range with a heat index around 100 or so.
FRIDAY
- Feels much better as we break the real deal heat as the front moves through.
- This brings a line of storms dropping in from north to south…
Much cooler air blows in for the weekend as temps go below normal…
The pattern after that is on the fence and I mentioned how something may fire in the tropics to further complicate things. Now the National Hurricane Center is monitoring for development…

I leave you with your Monday storm tracking tools…
Possible Watch Areas
Make it a great day and take care.

Feels like a summer morning in south central Louisiana outside. Temp 76, DP 72, RH 88%.
Stay cool, everyone!
it’s already 83° at 7:30 am near Bowling Green. The Heat Index briefly cracked the 100° mark yesterday afternoon, and will easily repeat that the next several days. This heat is no joke; in addition to the air temperature, we’re also dealing with the near maximum solar intensity, as we approach its high point in the sky on the 1st day of Summer.
Be safe!!
UNBEARABLE outside with a dew point of 79 degrees and a heat index of 101 degrees, but the clouds cover 80% of the sky and the temperature is only 90 degrees. Best place to be is on Black Mountain which is at 72 degrees. Maybe we will get Summer over with early ? Ready for Autumn after this week is out!!!
Good thought Schroeder, I work in a no air conditioning warehouse and outdoors and I was brought up to work this kind of conditions as long I have plenty water and sun screen
