Good Sunday, folks. We are into the closing days of August and it’s feeling the part out there today. Once into the start of the new week, we have storms ready to take center stage ahead of a blast of pleasant air on the way to kick off the month of September.
Temps today are 85-90 for many with the numbers a touch higher in the west. Humidity levels will be up a little and that adds a little sweat to the brow.
Isolated storms can’t be ruled out, but most of us stay dry through the afternoon. By evening, a storm or two may go up across the west as our front inches closer from the northwest. Here are your radars to follow along…
This cold front then drops in from the northwest Monday and Tuesday, bringing an increase in showers and storms. This front continues to look like it will drop through here by Wednesday with much cooler and drier air behind it to start September…
Temps will be pleasant for Thursday and Friday with lows in the 50s and highs upper 70s to low 80s.
From there, we have to watch the tropics to see what’s shaking. The National Hurricane Center continues to track a system toward the Gulf and two more in the Atlantic…
We will need to watch for anything in the Gulf to throw some moisture our way over Labor Day Weekend. You can see that now showing up on some of the models…

The tropics always make September patterns very challenging!
Have a great Sunday and take care.
Sounds like a great start to Meteorological Fall with all the weather models agreeing for once. Best chance of much needed precipitation in my local forecast is Tuesday or Wednesday. Hoping it’s more widespread than the last rain / shower event ?
Seems like Mother Nature is playing a ” cat and mouse game ” in the Tropics. I’m hoping the mouse wins as we do not want one of those systems to move into the Gulf of Mexico where the best chance exist for major Tropical development. We do not want another Hurricane Katrina !!!
Here’s the reason why the Gulf of Mexico is so dangerous this Hurricane Season :
