Good Monday, everyone. We are rolling into a much more active setup as we get set to close out October and begin November. This will bring much needed rain to the region over the next week, and then we have to watch for a transition to an earlier than normal start to winter.

Let’s begin with today and roll this thing forward.

Highs are deeeeeeep into the 70s again with a mix of sun and clouds as that gusty southwest wind continues.

Things begin to change on Tuesday as a cold front works into the Mississippi Valley. At the same time, a slow-moving storm system rolls from Texas toward the Ohio Valley through Wednesday. This brings an increase in showers and thunderstorms from southwest to northeast late Tuesday through Wednesday…

Some of the storms later Tuesday into Tuesday night may be strong or locally severe. The Storm Prediction Center has the low-end severe risk across much of western and central Kentucky…

Gusty winds are the main issues from any storm that goes up. As a matter of fact, winds will be really gusty outside of thunderstorms.

In terms of rainfall, .10″ to.75″ of rain looks likely for many with locally higher amounts possible, especially in the west.

Chilly winds blow behind this departing system on Wednesday as highs likely stay in the 50s for much of central and eastern Kentucky…

Seasonable 60s show up for highs Thursday and Friday with some lingering clouds.

Another storm system will slowly roll in from the southwest Halloween Weekend into early next week…
