Good evening, everybody. We’ve made it to the weekend and continue to track a storm system toward the Bluegrass State. This will bring an increase in showers and a few thunderstorms and some of that should linger into Halloween on Monday.

Let’s freshen up the headlines for you:

  • Clouds increase tonight into Saturday with most of us staying dry.
  • Showers and storms move into far western Kentucky Saturday afternoon and evening.
  • This action overspreads the rest of the state Saturday night and Sunday. The farther north and east you live, the better the chance you stay dry until late in the day.
  • We won’t see constant rains, but some rainfall totals will likely exceed 1″ before all is said and done.
  • Lingering showers continue into Halloween as a drying trend slowly takes over from west to east.
  • Trick-or-Treat time looks better as we get closer, but I still can’t take the shower chance out of the forecast as temps drop into the middle 50s.

Here’s a look at the model rainfall forecasts with our storm system…

As you can see, much of the heavier rains fall across central and western Kentucky.

A weaker system moves in here for Wednesday and Thursday with a few showers coming in from the southwest…

Again, this is a pattern change folks.

The extent of that change continues to give the models fits with what happens late next week into the weekend. Does a system cutoff and stick around in the west or does it eject out in full force? The models go back and forth on this scenario.

The latest EURO is back to having this system move in here with storms to colder…

Have a great start to the weekend and take care.
