Good evening, folks. Our middle of the work week continues to feature some clouds and light showers, but a bigger system is on tap for the weekend. That looks to bring wind and a few showers and storms in here. The longer range continues to look interesting.
Any lingering shower this evening is pretty light and mainly across the east. Here are your radars to track those out of town…
Temps behind this system soar into the 70s Thursday into the weekend. Winds will be gusty from the southwest as a storm system cranks and brings severe weather to the plains states. That low heads toward the Great Lakes Saturday, dragging a cold front into Kentucky. That brings showers and storms into the west and those work eastward from there through the afternoon and evening. That same boundary likely slows down with a few more showers and storms with it. The EURO is the fastest with the rain spreading east…
That could very well impact the Breeders’ Cup out at Keeneland.
Winds will be very gusty on Saturday and may top 40mph at times…
The tropics are alive and kicking with two hurricanes in the Atlantic and our system developing near the Bahamas…
The two hurricanes are of no interest to the United States, but that system near the Bahamas is the one I’ve yacked about for more than a week now. It has the potential to grow into a named storm that slowly meanders off the southeast coast for roughly the next week. Once we can clear that system out of the way, we should get the pattern to flip to much colder around the middle of the month with the chance for winter weather to show up for the second half of the month.
The EURO is actually bring this inland across the Carolinas and brings it far enough west to bring us rain. It then blasts the colder air with the front coming in behind it…
The GFS is trying to do the same…
Once out of the way, you will see cold shots become much more frequent with the chance for some winter weather in the second half of the month.
I’ll have a full update later tonight. Have a great rest of the evening and take care.
