Good afternoon, folks. Cold northwest winds continue to keep us absolutely frigid for the middle of November. This is a full-blown winter pattern that’s locked in and it will throw some more flake chances in the week ahead.
Our northwest flow is keeping clouds locked in and those clouds are still spitting out a few flurries in central and eastern Kentucky. Check out all the clouds and low-level moisture along and northwest of the Appalachian Mountains…
And no, none of that moisture is from Nicole. 😜
Temps are hanging in the low and middle 30s, making for an absolutely frigid mid-November day in Kentucky. Some areas may see some breaks in the overcast later in the afternoon. If you do, temps may climb toward the balmy upper 30s to around 40.
Monday finds a mix of sun and clouds early on before more clouds filter in during the afternoon. Highs are 40-45.
Our next system will then quickly move in here Monday night and Tuesday with another swath of rain and light snow. There could even be a bit of a mix showing up in the transition zone.
The Canadian has had the most consistent handle on this whole scenario and with the light snow and flurries diving in behind this for Wednesday and Thursday. Here’s the latest run…
The GFS is finally starting to see fully see all this…
We know all of this will be followed by very cold air that will be with us for the end of the week into the weekend.
The temps may bounce back for a bit into the middle of Thanksgiving week, but this isn’t a pattern that wants to give up by any means. Watch how the EURO Ensembles start to go right back toward another cold setup Thanksgiving weekend and shortly thereafter…
That’s all the time I have for now, but I will throw you another update this evening. Enjoy your Saturday and take care.
Thanks Chris, Is this Thursday when you release your outlook for the Winter ? I am not use to this cold weather yet. I hope this coming Winter has Snow for the Snow Lovers and some mild days with much needed rains to end this drought before Spring arrives. Kind of concerned about severe weather ( tornadoes ) during December and ice storms during January and February. I don’t think the Snows in my area will be a problem. I think areas North of the Ohio River could see some substantial Snow accumulations though.
