Good Thursday and Happy Thanksgiving! We continue to track a shower maker into the region later today with a much bigger system set to follow that up later this weekend. That one looks windy and wet and is a harbinger of things to come next week.
Let’s breakdown the forecast:
- Temps today spike into the upper 50s to low 60s for many with a mix of sun and clouds. Scattered showers get into western Kentucky by the afternoon.
- Scattered showers the roll across the rest of the state from west to east this evening into Friday morning.
- A cold front drops in from the north by Friday afternoon as clearing skies quickly take over. Things look good for the afternoon and evening.
- That cold front brings a shot of chill in here for Saturday morning with readings in the 20s for the northern half. Highs reach the 50s for many.
- With the front making a much farther push, it’s slowing down the arrival time of the potent storm system from the southwest. Saturday during the day now looks dry.
- Low pressure rolls into the Ohio Valley from the southwest Saturday night and Sunday. Heavy rain and gusty winds will be common ahead of this low.
- Wind gusts late Saturday night and early Sunday will likely top 40-45mph at times.
- Chilly winds and leftover showers will be noted later Sunday and that likely carries us into early Monday.
Our Saturday night and Sunday low pressure is a stout one that moves right into the region with wind driven rain…
Gusts of 40-45mph will be very possible and I can’t rule out some 50mph gusts. The models continue to spit some of those out…
After leftover showers finally taper off by late Monday, we quickly turn our attention toward the next storm rolling in for the final day of November. This one could bring some strong storms ahead of it, but we also need to watch for the pressing cold air to see if it can push the storm track a little farther south and east. That’s something the GFS is trending toward…
So is the EURO, but it continues to have more of a strong storm look to it…
Some fun and games may very well be lurking not too long after that.
I will have updates later today, so check back. I leave you with your holiday trackers…
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and take care.
