Good evening, folks. A winter storm continues to blast across the bluegrass state and it’s bringing snow and brutal cold with it. This system is causing travel chaos across much of the country, including right here in Kentucky as it unleashes dangerously cold air.
The NWS did upgrade much of the state to a Winter Storm Warning and this may still get expanded a county or two farther east…
My current call for snowfall looks like this…
Some of the late afternoon model runs are targeting areas a bit farther south and east. The GFS continues to lead the charge…
Even the short range model known as the HRRR is edging farther south and east. This only goes through tomorrow morning…
A Wind Chill Warning is also out for the entire state…
Lows tonight likely go well below zero for most of the state and could make a run at -10…
Wind chills are absolutely insane…
I will have updates as needed here on KWC and on WKYT-TV.
As usual, I have you guys all set to track this harsh winter blast…

From what I’ve read on some Twitter weather posts…winter might take a huge break the first 2 weeks of January…for a LOT of the lower 48
I’ll be ready for that after we get through this weekend of horrible cold weather.
Me too Dottie, this cold coming is scary !
Here in my part of world it’s all on going what Chris has talked about. Stay warm and be safe
Is anyone getting anything yet???
Yes, I live here in far western part of ky by the Ohio river it’s been snowing and the wind is with it.
