Y’all know I love winter weather, but I’m to the point of the year when I can easily be persuaded to join #TeamSpring. Go big or go home winter!
I’ll have updates later today, so check back. Make it a good one and take care.

A frustrating winter. The good news is that it will be over soon.

Winter weather may not be over, but Old Man Winter’s back is certainly broken.

I’m not a fan of wet snows where you have a decent snow, but the next day temps are well above freezing… it’s like what’s the point? I couldn’t believe all the areas that got snow and stayed above freezing. I know that can happen though

So far this winter has been a bust. I just had a gut feeling when we had that cold outbreak/snow @ Christmas. Seems like if this type of event occurs before January we usually have a anemic winter. Well let’s see what El Nino effect will have next winter .

Oh it’s the anniversary of the Blizzard of 78! What a event I was 15 years old .

I was 26 years old in 1978. That Blizzard was a once in a lifetime event I’m sorry to say. It occurred in a rare El Nino Winter.

Not a promise from NOAA that El Nino will influence our Winter 2023-24. We may have the same Winter weather pattern as this year. A fourth year La Nina ? A strong Southeast Ridge has destroyed our chances of a major Snow event. We are however getting the Snow showers this morning. At least that is something resembling Winter.

The Chicago area received a widespread 3-to-4 inch snow on Wednesday morning into the afternoon, making this our largest snowfall of the season. Temperatures rose to 35-36 degrees during the day though, so there was efficient compacting and melting of the snow down to around two inches.
While Kentucky is going to be on the fence for the next week regarding precipitation, the Chicago area may get hit by two significant winter storms Saturday and Tuesday. Plus, the cold weather will really take hold here next week with much below normal temps.

Mike, You have the best chance of Winter Snows returning than Kentucky. I just hope Ice Storms are not in our future. Enjoy the Snows.
