Good Friday, folks. It’s a frigid Friday across the region as we get in on the very southern edge of arctic air. This quick hitting blast of cold is bringing a few flakes into the region, but we have milder days on the way this weekend and early next week.

That strong northwest wind this morning is giving us wind chills ranging from the high singles to the middle teens, depending on where you are. This same northwest wind is also bringing a few flurries or scattered snow showers to central and eastern Kentucky. I can’t even rule out a quick hit and run light accumulation in a few spots.

Here are your radars to follow along…

Wind chills are likely back into the same range for early Saturday, but a southwest wind starts to kick in before the day is over. That should boost your temps deep into the 40s for highs before the day is over.

Winds continue to increase Saturday night and early Sunday with gusts that may top 40mph at times…

Temps surge into the 50s for Sunday and may hit 60 early next week. Our next system brings showers in here late Tuesday and Wednesday with a bigger system likely to follow that up late next week or into next weekend.

There’s the chance this introduces us to a winter weather chance…

It’s also interesting to note how the operational models are drifting away from the warmer look of the Ensembles for the middle of the month. The latest GFS is going toward some pretty deep troughs diving in…

The EURO Weeklies are out and go through the middle of March. If we look at the period from mid-February through Mid-Marh, we find something that doesn’t look like an early start to spring…

Not a lot of warmer than normal temps showing up there. It’s also a much wetter than average period…

The Control run of the Weeklies are crazy above normal with precipitation…

And it’s showing an even colder signal across the country.

You guys know this will be correct, right? Why? Because cold springs are a thing now and anytime I join #TeamSpring, these things happen. 😡😡

I’ll see you for another update or two later today. Have a good one and take care.
