Good Tuesday, everyone. It’s a day straight out of late May or early June as temps soar ahead of a potent storm system. This brings the potential for some strong and severe storms, especially late Wednesday and Wednesday night.
Highs today are generally in the 80-85 degree range for much of the state as a gusty southwest wind kicks in. This may be accompanied by a few showers and storms this morning and early afternoon. The greatest chance is in the north…
Today features another massive severe weather outbreak to our west. Tornadoes and damaging wind will be likely in some of the same areas hardest hit on Friday. There’s a low-end risk for a few strong or severe storms in western Kentucky today…
This system is slowing down and that means a REALLY warm Wednesday. Temps should be back into the 80-85 degree range for much of central and eastern Kentucky…
The threat for severe storms then moves into our region late Wednesday and Wednesday night. Here’s the Severe Weather Outlook for Wednesday where much of the region is now under the Enhanced Risk…
Check out the increased risk for damaging winds with this outlook…
And the tornado risk…
The cold front presses through here Wednesday night and early Thursday, bringing chill air into the region. Check out the temps from 11pm Wednesday through 8pm Thursday…
Temps start to bubble back closer to normal by Friday and into Saturday as we head into Easter Weekend on an improving note. Temps for Easter Sunday make a run at 7o with a mix of sun and clouds…
The pattern next week is going to try to throw a system in here from the northwest and cut it off somewhere in the east. The trend on the EURO Ensembles is for this system to be farther east and southeast with a big ridge of high pressure building in…
That would bring a fairly warm spell in here to go along with calmer skies! Bring. It. On.
I will have another update later today. Until then, here are your storm tracking tools to watch the severe stuff getting close to us from the west…
Possible Watch Areas
Make it a terrific Tuesday and take care.

Thanks Chris. Again with the weekly High Wind Threat. Hoping that no one receives this predicted weather, but the NWS said it’s a greater bet that it will happen because of the high dew points and unseasonable warm temperatures and the heavy rains bringing the jet force winds to the surface.
The Pacific continues to display high pressure in the center funneling colder than normal temperatures along the West Coast and the contrast in temperatures is causing the severe weather in the midwest and South. Hopefully, we will see an end to this in the coming days.
I lost my power last Saturday.
Fortunately for me I was out of town.
Hey, Schroeder do you think I should replant Salvia?
I don’t think the plants survived the past winter.
Which I find surprising. I planted them 2 years ago.
The only one I ever planted was Salvia splendens ( Scarlet Sage ) which is an annual. I don’t think any perennial forms will grow very long in our climate. Yes, I would try it again in a more protected area or you could cover it when we have these Snowless Arctic outbreaks.
Thanks
