Good Friday and welcome to Kentucky Derby Weekend. The weather Gods are smiling down on the Bluegrass State on this Oaks Day and that looks to continue into Derby Day. Much warmer weather rolls in and starts with mainly dry skies.
Temps out there today are in the 70s with mostly dry skies. There’s the chance for scattered showers and storms going up across the west and far south as our system continues to trend weaker and farther south. Nobody is complaining about this development! 😎
Here are your radars to follow any action that’s out there today…
Kentucky Derby Saturday looks to feature more in the way of mainly dry skies and temps back into the 70s. Bring. It. On.
Even warmer and more humid air pushes in for Sunday and takes us into early next week. This may feature some rounds of storms dropping in here from the northwest. The EURO has been showing this for a few days now…
That same run of the EURO is showing quite a bit of lightning with these rounds…
The chance for a few strong to severe storms is there during this time. It will be interesting to see if the Storm Prediction Center puts us in a low-end severe threat for Sunday…

Next week continues to look warmer than normal with a big ridge flexing across the eastern half of the country…
The EURO Ensembles are showing a trough trying to replace that ridge the following week…
That’s something I alluded to as a possibility a week or so ago. Check out the temp departures for a 5 day stretch that week…
Have a great Kentucky Oaks Day and take care.

Any cold later in May is not impressive. #TeamSummer
The cool down, if it happens will probably be welcome after this spell of Summer weather the next few weeks. I was hoping for better chances of rain at the beginning of the week. We really need the rain for newly planted crops and ornamentals.
I think this is the 1st time I have seen the word humidity on this website.
I am positive that this will not be the last time.
I am about 50% done with my outdoor projects around my home. Hopefully, I will be able to complete all of it before the humidity sets in for the summer.
High humidity and high dew points bad . High humidity and low dew points good.
