Good Saturday and Happy Kentucky Derby Day. We have another awesome weather day for the Run For The Roses, but the pattern is about to change on us. We are about to turn it warm and story as we head into Sunday and beyond.

Let’s start with this Derby Day and roll forward. Temps hit the 70s across the region with a mix of sun and clouds. Skies are likely dry, but I’m watching the northwestern sky for some thunderstorms to develop this evening. Those would roll toward the southeast into the evening and overnight.

The odds of one of these getting into Louisville around Derby time isn’t high, but I cannot say there’s zero chance. That may be a Call To The Post decision. Just something to keep in the back of your mind.

Rounds of thunderstorms will likely drop in from northwest to southeast into Sunday. The Future Radar from the HRRR is pretty stormy looking…

Before all that, a cluster of storms may also try and impact far western Kentucky. There’s a low-end risk for a few severe storms with this…

I’m still wondering if the SPC will put our region in a low-end risk for Sunday…

Additional rounds of storms work in for Monday and Tuesday. The models are spitting out some hefty amounts…

This is a setup to watch closely.

We are likely to get a break by Wednesday, but more storms look to fire up later in the week into next weekend…

That would be ahead of what appears to be another trough trying to dig into the eastern half of the country for the following week…

The Ensembles continue to point toward a cooler than normal period…

I leave you with your radars to follow any evening storms that fire up…

Make it a great day and take care.
