Good Sunday to one and all. A big shoutout to all the Mom’s out there on this Mother’s Day. Mother Nature is trying to steal the show with rounds of thunderstorms impacting the region. While the day is NOT a washout, a few strong to severe storms are possible.
It’s another muggy day with a few rounds of showers and storms dropping in here from the west and northwest. The best chance is across western and central Kentucky and this is where some of the storms may be strong or severe.
The Storm Prediction Center has the low-end severe risk out for this area today…
Here’s a look at the individual severe threats out there today…
The front working in here is looking slower and slower for Monday and may not clear the region until Election Day. That would keep scattered showers and storms going up…
Temps come down behind that, but not as much since the front is much slower coming in. It’s also going to be followed up by another strong front dropping in here by Friday. This may bring some strong or severe storms with it…
As always, I have you all set to do some Sunday storm tracking…
Possible Watch Areas
Make it a great Mother’s Day and take care.
Thank you Chris
Thanks Chris. My County of Taylor has seen minimal action in the way of showers and thunderstorms. The Springs rain / showers are still not showing up. Just been gloomy skies with higher dew points. I notice the overall precipitation pattern has not changed in over a year. More chances for precipitation to the North and West and a weaking phase here in South Central areas. Has to be the ridge to our Southeast. Hoping the change in ENSO later this Summer will bring our widespread rains back.
Happy Mother’s Day to All !
Schroeder, it’s looking like you may get some rain this morning! Hope so. We had a nice shower last night.
We received a sprinkle about an hour ago. The main cell just past to the Southwest of my area. It seems like the widespread rains don’t happen anymore. My area must be the driest in the whole State of Kentucky. I figure it’s my geographical location.
Very glad that nothing fell in Richmond today. I got in some much needed yard work. Now it can rain all it wants. 😉
