Strong Storms and Steamy Temps Today

Good Saturday to one and all. We have another steamy and stormy day out there as our pattern gets ready to change. This change brings a return of the setup we’ve had for much of summer and this looks to roll through early August.

Temps today are dependent on the amount and timing of thunderstorms going up. If the storms go up early enough, temps are under 90. If not, 90-95 will be common. Humidity levels will continue to be high, making it feel even hotter.

This high humidity will combine with a cold front dropping in from the northwest to produce rounds of thunderstorms.  While it won’t be all day stuff, any storm that goes up could put down a lot of rain in a short amount of time and that could cause some additional flash flooding.

The Storm Prediction Center also has a low-end risk for severe storms today into tonight…

Damaging wind is the main threat from any storm that goes up…

DAMAGING WIND

LARGE HAIL

TORNADO THREAT

The cold front moves in for Sunday and may still produce some showers and storms, especially in the west and south. There’s another low-end severe threat during this time…

Temps come down Sunday and even more so by Monday and Tuesday. Highs are back into the a comfy low and middle 80s for many with much lower humidity levels. It’s going to feel really nice as we close July and roll into August.

The potential for some clusters of storms to drop in here is still in the cards for the second half of next week…

This happens as we the overall pattern snaps back into a familiar setup with intense heat in the far south and west and a trough in the east…

The Ensembles keep that trough going into the first full week of August…

The control run is even more emphatic with that trough…

I can handle that pattern again!

I will have updates if needed today. As always, you guys are all set to track today’s storms and severe weather threat…

Wow it’s miserable outside if you are out very long. Sorry Jeff don’t like your weather lol. Just got a severe thunderstorm warning for my area. I hope it pours but my luck it will go around. I hope someone gets a good rain out of it.

Crystal, I would be heading to the Mountains where the current temperature is 65 degrees. How pleasant is that. Looking back when I move to Kentucky in 2008, I wish I moved closer to the Mountains or living in the Mountains where my favorite plants grew wild. I made a big mistake in selecting my retirement place. South Central Kentucky where we miss all the good Rains and Snows is the pits. Too old now.
