Good Thursday, everyone. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are rolling through the region early today and may cause some issues. Once this moves through, the focus turns to scattered storms into the weekend and early next week. This is ahead of a taste of September air.
The rain rolling through early today may put down 1″-3″ for some but it has a VERY sharp cutoff on the northern edge. Here’s the area most at risk of seeing enough rain to cause local issues…
This action becomes much more scattered by the afternoon. Here are your radars to follow along…
With lots of clouds and rain around today, especially early, highs will be held way down into the 70s for many. Only far northern Kentucky will see temps into the 80-85 degree range as this area sees more late day sun and not much in the rain department.
Scattered storms will be around on Friday with temps in the 80s.
A similar setup will be noted for Saturday before waves of showers and storms return for Sunday and Monday. That’s when low pressure moves into the Ohio Valley. Additional heavy rain is possible with this setup…
This is part of a massive trough engulfing much of the country next week…
This leads to more in the way of below normal temps with another round of heavy rain and storms possible late next week as another trough sweeps in. Our tame temperature and wetter than normal summer rolls on. Of course, you guys knew this was coming from back in early spring. 😁😎
Have a great Thursday and take care.
No we actually did not know this was coming.
I feel like the entire summer we’ve only had a handful of hot days (by that I mean 90+… and even then I wouldn’t say anything over the top…other than a few days with high dewpoints…But anything above 80 to me is hot (LOL)…so…for me this summer was hot…not so much for others. Perfect for me would be 75 all summer… but I know that’s NOT gonna happen
Perfect for me is a low of 55-65 and a high 85-95 with enough rain for crops and drinking. 🙂
I should say 90-95. 😉
Like I said a few days ago the humidity level during the summer is a bigger factor than temperatures.
looks like were going too miss the dog days of summer this August. As our days are getting shorter you know fall is around the corner ready for it.
September has had quite a few days in the 90s before.
True, but with the pattern were in it will be limited if any 90’s show’s up in September
Love me some sweater weather and bergoo
Was waiting for the rain to end to report the total since midnight 0.79 ” of much needed rain has fallen here in Maple. A lot of places around my county received more than an inch.
I’m shocked KLEX received over 1/2 inch today… it looked like it would slide south of us… but there was a small band that persisted over Lexington.
Glad you got some rain Schroeder. We got .51 at my house in south east Lexington and my garden has perked up a bit.
