Good Saturday everyone and welcome to Halloween weekend. Some of you may be singing Christmas songs considering the wintry weather of late. Much of the region got in on a mix of rain, sleet and snow Friday and some of that continues early today across the east. Several spots got in on light accumulating snows.

The threat for late October snow has been talked about on this blog for a couple months now. Many of my winter analog years featured flakes toward the end of this month and they are proving themselves to be golden right now.

In addition to the snow… Lexington only hit 41 degrees for a high temp on Friday. That is the 4th coldest October high over the past 49 years.

Everything going on around here is all tied to an historic snowstorm working up the east coast. This thing is massive and will cause significant problems for millions of people. The snowfall forecast map from the NAM is INSANE…

A snowstorm like this has never before happened this early in the season across the eastern part of the country. Extreme continues to be the name of the weather game. I will try to get you guys some live cams up later today.

Some thoughts about our weather…

– Morning snow and a mix will quickly move away from eastern Kentucky. This may leave a slushy accumulation for some.

– A stray shower will be possible this afternoon across central and eastern parts of the state. Highs will stay in the upper 40s east with mid 50s west.

– Sunday will start cold with some readings in the 20s. Highs will hit the 50s.

– A system will dive in from the northwest on Halloween and should bring an increase in clouds and a few showers. Temps will also be held into the upper 40s and low 50s.

– Our next weather maker should arrive on the scene by the middle and end of next week. More on this and the first week of November pattern with upcoming updates.

Let’s track the weather of the moment…

Have a great Saturday and take care.
