Good evening, folks. Our front continues to be draped right on top of the region and it continues to bring a huge temp gradient and increasing rains. The rain will continue to overspread the region through Sunday as we get set for a blast of winter temps to follow. Can we get something else to come along? Maybe.
Let’s start this out by illustrating just how bad the GFS can be. Check this out…
Which model has the best handle on the front across Kentucky? The garbage GFS is busting by 20 degrees right now in western Kentucky. Current temps in the west are in the low 50s. The GFS is telling you they’re in the low 70s right now. NAM & Candian are doing much better. #kywx pic.twitter.com/IuUr2Zn1Vg

The GFS couldn’t get the temps right in real time and not just by a little bit… By 20 degrees! Imagine if this were happening in a rain vs ice setup? Folks in western Kentucky would be getting an ice storm while the GFS and its worshippers would be telling them it’s in the 50s and raining. Ugh.
The rain this evening is coming from southwest to northeast and is drenching areas of the west. This will spread into parts of central and northern Kentucky late evening into the overnight as the east and southeast see much less rain. Here are your radars for the evening…
Widespread rain will roll through the region Sunday into the first part of Monday. Many areas will pick up 1″-2″ of rain during this time…
Cold temps crash in behind this with falling numbers Sunday and Sunday night. Highs Monday are in the 40s but gusty northwest winds will make it feel much colder. Lows by Halloween morning are in the 20s.
The clipper looking system working into the Ohio Valley Halloween night into Wednesday continues to show up best on the Canadian…
You can clearly see that swath of flakes working across central and eastern Kentucky, giving our region the first flakes of the season.
Here’s where the Canadian THINKS will see those first flakes…
The EURO is going back toward what the Canadian is showing…
It only shows some flakes into the far northern part of the state…
As that system moves through, winds become very gusty for Trick or Treaters and that means wind chills may fall into the 20s as the kiddos are wrapping up their candy rounds…
The first day of November then starts with temps into the low and middle 20s for many…
Wind chills during this time will likely be in the upper teens. Brr!
Enjoy the evening and take care.
