Tracking Heavy Rain and Increasing Winds

Good evening, folks. Thanksgiving week is off and running on a wet note and it’s getting even wetter. Heavy rain rolls in tonight and brings gusty winds along for the ride with chilly showers set to follow. After a decent Thanksgiving, the focus is then on the winter looking setup that blows in.

The short-term forecast is on track with rounds of rain and some rumbles of thunder increasing from southwest to northeast tonight and early Tuesday. Heavy rainfall of .50″ 1.50″ are likely across the entire region through Wednesday. That’s when chilly showers take control.

Winds are also a big player tonight with 40mph gusts a good bet for many areas of central and eastern Kentucky. The highest gusts will be across southern and southeastern Kentucky. I’m surprised we don’t have a more expansive Wind Advisory, but I really shouldn’t be.

Here are your heavy rain tracking radars for the evening…

Wednesday’s highs are in the 40-45 degree range for many with wind chills in the 30s. This hour-by-hour wind chill forecast goes from 7am Wednesday through 11pm Wednesday…

Wednesday is just a cold, raw travel day, folks!

Thanksgiving looks good with the system on Friday likely staying just to our south as colder air surges in from the northwest. This sets up for the weekend and will be just ahead of a Sunday system that can bring a little light rain or light snow.
