Chilly Showers Fill In Behind The Heavy Rain

Good Tuesday, everyone. Heavy rain and gusty winds are rolling across the state early today with chilly showers filtering in behind this from late today through Wednesday. That’s how the start of this long Thanksgiving travel period is looking. There’s another system that can bring rain or some snow to end it on Sunday.

Heavy rain and some thunder are rolling across the state this morning and will exit eastern Kentucky by early afternoon. Gusty winds of 40mph will be possible with this band. Gusty showers then kick in this afternoon and evening as the front comes through.

Here are your radars to follow along…

A northwest flow means chilly showers tonight through Wednesday, especially in central and eastern Kentucky. This isn’t a lot of rain, but it’s a lot of mist with some out and out showers. The models are spitting out small rain totals from this light stuff…

Highs are mainly 40-45 on what is a gray and raw busy travel day. Wind chills will be in the 30s all day…

Thanksgiving may start with some low clouds but sunshine takes over into the afternoon with upper 40s and low 50s for highs.

The nice weather carries into Black Friday as temps come down a few degrees as colder air presses in from the north. This sets the stage for a system to scoot in here with rain or snow Saturday night and Sunday with the potential for lingering flakes on Monday. This is with the first of two shots of cold air. The second one follows that up a few days later and may also produce some flakes.

Once again, the Canadian and GFS agree on the overall theme of the forecast for the closing week of November…

It’s also time to look ahead toward the long range picture for Christmas and New Year’s via the EURO Weeklies. If you’re a winter fan, the Weeklies are in a giving mood…

It’s never too early to start dreaming, folks! ❄️❄️😁

I will have another update later today, so check back. Make it a great day and take care.

My PWS near Bowling Green has actually recorded 1.75″ of rain over the past 24 hours. It’s been so long, I’d almost forgotten what it’s like!

Thanks Chris. Grateful for the Rain, 1.56 ” here in Maple. I was really surprise the amount that fell in an unphased system. Maybe this will be a weekly habit of Mother Nature. Only one can hope.
